I'm supposed to be loading up the RZR in the toy hauler tonight to head to the dunes tomorrow and I'm having issues with a brake job. After putting the new pads in the caliper I can't get them to spread wide enough to get over the rotor. They are Polaris pads and I measured them and they are to the width spec for new pads. I read something about using a C-Clamp to press the pistons back in the caliper but I don't have one handy. I tried using a big pair of channel lock pliers and couldn't get the pistons to budge. They stick up out of the caliper by a good centimeter or so. Are the pistons supposed to be able to go flush with the caliper? Any tricks to getting them back in there?
Also, the service manual talks about adjusting the set screw on the inside of the caliper after you're done until the pad just makes contact with the rotor. I put the old pads back on for now so that I can get the caliper back over the rotor and the pads are basically rubbing the rotor with the screw all the way out. Is that simply due to me not pressing the cylinders in?
Thanks!!!
