Has anyone added some kind of heater in your toyhauler? I have a 38' toyhauler and it takes forever to warm up.

When dry camping and dont want to run the gen all the time.

You can still use your electric heaters when dry camping. Whenver I run my generator I use electric heat so I am not burning (2) fuels at the same time. I also have a 39' and the back is colder then the front due to the ducting. Another thing we do is use the rear canvas curtaain and leave it down as another vapor barrier and then stack up all of the riding gear underneath the beds against the door. Every little bit helps

I tried to run a ceramic heater in Taylor park. That was fun. I run two Champion 2000 watt generators in tandem for a total of 3400 watts but if I tried to turn on the little heater even on its lowest setting, they would trip out. I think the heater is a 1500 watt unit but I may be lying. Thinking I may try a smaller one next time I get a chance.

Yes Mr buddies are completely safe that's for sure no matter what u should have a c-o detector in your trailer. I have a older 40 weekend warrior and that's what I use but I have been thinking about using a pellet stove and putting stove pipe out window real ******* but so cheap to to run

I have used my heater buddy in tents and my trailer many times with no problems. It get too hot in the trailer even on low so I have to leave a window open.
i have a 24' TH and have the mid size buddy, use it on low or it gets too hot in there even though i leave 1 window open 1" and a vent open 1", the buddies have 3 safetys , tip over , co2 , and o2. trailor has o2, co2,smoke and gas detectors. total 7. my house only has smoke and co2, :scared2: nothing is 100%. safe but probably safer than the drive to get to the campground. :scared2::rofl3: JMHO. also what 8ball said, is good.

I can't find the story right now but 2 racers died using one of those propane heaters in there Toyhauler one night out at Johnson valley, Cal about years ago.

A small RV, 12 volt ( for blower) ,propane fired , forced air furnace might work well. Had one in a camper and it cranked out the heat. Would need to mount in in a box with outside exhaust, but that makes them safer then non vented heat. It had a wall mount Tstat and the furnace was very compact and all self contained.

Just an idea. I can find pics of the unit if you are interested.

I dont trust anything that uses combusted fuel. A friend of mines dad died in a box van from a propane heater. I do not know anything about this specific lil buddy heater but i DO NOT recommend it after loosing someone you know or love

My 40" Raptor handles 67 degrees thought the night and it was low 20s outside. This was last weekend out in Cal City. The kids stay in the garage on the bunks and yes it was a bit cooler in there. I run my portable Honda gen for an hour or so as the kids watch a movie before bed and then the two 6 volts take over for the night. I'm not sure how warm you are trying to keep it but I do notice better battery life now with the 6 volts..

Does your trailer not have a Gas furnace? They run on LP and 12v. If it does it should heat the trailer up Easily. If not you might have something wrong with it or its undersized.. They are by far the easiest and safest option in an enclosed space since the flame is tech outside of the trailer.. Its in a steel box thats vented outside and sealed off from the inside of the trailer.. Heats the air by blowing it over this steel box..

Gas is best for boondocking, But any heater with flame inside the trailer will add to the humidity inside and is also a risk for carbon monoxide. A heater buddy works pretty well but I would not sleep with it on. If you do have a gas furnace thats undersized.. Maybe run it and the heater buddy to get the trailer warm.. Then cut the heater buddy off before bed and let the furnace keep it warm while you sleep.

Any electric heater is going to pull a ton of power and running a generator to power and electric heater is not the most efficient way to make heat.

Ya what he said......

I did but his stock heater could be Heat strips in his AC or heat pump.. HUGE difference on BTU output of a furnace.. You can also get a larger furnace.. They start at like 15k BTUs and go up to 40,000 BTUs..
My family owned an RV dealership for 30 years.. I grew up working on them. I built my current Toyhauler out of a cargo trailer. I have seen more then one death from running Lp heaters in trailers.. I have also replaced molded carpet and wharped paneling from the moisture they pump out when the gas is burnt.. Not saying you can't do it. Just be very cautious about what heaters you run in your camper. I would not trust a sensor on a 100 dollar heater or a Co dector while I sleep. I can keep my trailer 85 with temps in the teens outside if I want. And its 100% safe. If you have a furnace.. Spend the 50 bucks and get it checked out. If its to small spend the 600 to replace and sell the old one to recoup some of your cash.. Just my 2cents

my heater works fine and will keep my trailer as warm as i want ....but..... when you come in at midnight or later its very cold so i fire up the mr buddy and both heaters heat it up fast otheirwise it takes forever to get warm... thats why i use it... plus a couple times a year were we go at high altitude and -10 deg the heater cant keep up so i use it then also....

We have a 9,000btu Mr. Buddy. I removed the pressure regulator and attached a 12' hose with a LP approved quick disconnect. I tapped into the LP system so I could use the on-board LP system instead of the small bottles.

We have dry camped for almost 10 years with our Mr. Buddy. With the M/H we put it in the bath room, crack a ceiling vent about a inch. If we want to move air around while dry camping we have a small 12vdc fan, looks like a 12" box fan made by Fantastic Fan, on low it draws like 1 amp vs the 12 amps of the built in furnace.

No noise, and no wasted heat out the side of the M/H with the ducted furnace. It has a O2 sensor and we have a CO detector in the bed room.

It works for us.

I have been looking at the Olyimpian Wave 8 for the back area and the Wave 3 for the bedroom area and adding some O2 sensors. I have a 2000 watt honda that i sometimes run all night but run out of gas fast with a load on it.

I have a 32' T/H and the factory propane heater works great. In fact it gets to hot sometimes. Just back from Pismo where it got down to the thirty's and had no problem keeping us warm. I'm a retired HVAC guy and would never use a gas heater in an enclosed place without proper ventilation. There is a reason why the stock T/H gas heaters are made specifically for RV's. The combustion chamber is sealed from the living area.

Just my 2cents.
