I always recommend that you carry it on your person because you typically will need it when you are away from your buggy. Additionally, if you have a quality holster you will not have to worry about it bouncing out while your riding.

I agree with the Rev and a quick search will reveal a lot of posts on this topic.

In a perfect world … like 40 years ago you could get away with a gun rack in your ride but now I don’t trust another sole with access to my firearms. Body worn only!

I carry every day and never change where my weapon is. When the chips are down muscle memory kicks in and you respond to where you carry. Changing where you carry and where you practice may cost you dearly. JMHO

+1 on person always. No issues with a full frame 1911 in a quality leather OWB holster fitting comfortably in the driver seat.

 

Can be worn over or under a jacket, whichever is your choice. Easily accessable when riding or out walking around. This was custom made for $200 by a local leather man. Also carry a concealed 380 at all times.

 

Another variation is a chest holder that rides up higher. I use one of these for a .44 magnum Ruger when I'm in Alaska. Gunfighters.com makes a Kenai kydex model which is what use.

 

Usually in a door bag if not on person. Lately I've been looking at a daraholster mounted to the tunnel, but haven't pulled the trigger yet.

I carry mine in my Cargo pants, has Velcro on the pocket top, wife has a CC Purse for hers.

I have 1 of these on the rzr that I use when back road riding. On the trail I keep it holstered on me or in the center console area where it's easily accessible.

 

Only problem I have with the under dash mounts is that the gun gets so very dirty from all the swirling dust and sand.
I carry a S&W 500 with 750 grains 4" barrel so by no means it's light- it's in the zippered door bag- so I have access in bear country -
Been pondering chest cross draw harness but dirt again,is the enemy

 

I'd take dirt and dust over body sweat and oils anyday.

What's the odds we could get @SuperATV to make some custom inner door panels? Group buy?

 

My sidearm goes on with my pants in the morning and doesn't come back off until I go to bed. I also have a "truck gun" in every vehicle I own and one in the door bag of my rzr.

I always carry mine on my chest. Never in my way and always at the ready. I have a home made duster that keeps the dirt off. Works lovely!!

I’m more worried about big game than ppl so I carry a S&W44MAG and not worry either way.
