I have a few questions about my first attempt at rebuilding a front diff on my 2012 800 S. To start with, I was rebuilding due to the passenger side front wheel was not engaging in 4wd. After researching, I thought it needed a Sprague and or armature, so I ordered the billet one from SATV and the 10 finger armature. Upone taking it apart, I noticed a few things:
-The Sprague was already swapped to aluminum, and it looked great along with the armature plate
-Whoever rebuilt it last time was pretty rough on removing seals and gouged a lot of the mating surfaces. Not sure oil seals will ever work without RTV
-The Output hubs are what was wrong and the splines were almost completely worn out. It spins freely on the axle
- The white plastic backlash spacer was are out on one side. I also broke it trying to remove it. See photo below
My questions are this:
1. I can not seem to locate a replacement backlash bushing (see photo). Does anyone know where to source these?
2. Should I return the sprague and HD armature I bought or return them and the six finger one that is currently installed? They look fairly new with minimal wear. Just not sure if I should put the heavier duty ones in there since I already have them.
3. The output hubs seem to range from $300-$400.
4. I'm starting to think I should just return the sprague and armature I bought, and buy the cast GDP one for $1K from SATV and have the warranty.
