Front diff leaking again

Noticed a small leak at the left front axle of my diff in my 16XPT. I had a leak on the right side while still under warranty. They replaced the output hubs and seals.

My question for anyone that has dealt with this problem, what is the source of the leak? A bad output hub bearing which lets output hub have play and eats up the seal? or groves on the output hub?

Do I need to replace the hubs or just new bearings/seals and I'm good to go?

i took mine to full throttle power sports a guy name Dustin Robbins runs it. they told me it had to do with freeze plugs in the axle cups that started leaking. it fixed mine and another buddy of mines in a 17 xpt. if you give them a call they can tell you how they fix it. (256) 309-0200

Junk.

I ended up pulling my axle and adding some silicone for the time being. I will order a bearing and seal kit and replace everything inside the diff.

When I was cleaning everything out, I noticed the plug in back of the output hub was loose and I could move it around a bit. I'm guessing thats what is leaking? Is it just a press fit that gets loose over time?

I had the same thing happen with my 2017 rock edition. It has a similar AWD to the turbo with the same axles. I had the hubs replaced under extended warranty and 400 miles later they started leaking again. Both times the plug in the hub was loose. I finally spent $1200 to get a set of hubs from Hawk Engineering. They are hardened and designed much better. Instead of a sleeve that connects the hubs, they have a pressed bearing between the hubs that is put on with red Loctite. I have about 700 miles on the Hawk Engineering hub and it has not leaked. The center bearing that connects the hubs also lets them turn independently where the sleeve would bind the hubs together. My friend Greybeard also has the Hawk Engineering hubs and has had no problems since he installed it. He tried the silicone and it started leaking after two days of rock crawling at Hidden Falls.

Yep. Same here, mine started leaking at 400 miles. Cleaned it all up with brake cleaner, put a light bead in the cup. Then I pulled a vacuum on the vent line for 24 hours. Put it all back together. 1700 mikes later. No leaks. It’s too bad Polaris has such a stupid problem.

HDextreme off-road also sells an upgrade kit. It used longer output hubs so they extend past the seal. The stock ones flex and are the same length as the seal causing leaks. I put their kit in mine and it has 2000 hard miles on it with no issues.

Sorry to resurrect an old thread, but what all is included in their kit and approximate cost? I looked at their site and have sent them an email but I do see some "factory output hubs" in their clearance section. Are those just part of the upgrade kit or are those all I need?
