Frickin oil filter on the Polaris General

Yes, yes, I know this is a RZR forum!

Just hoping someone here has a General in addition to their RZR.

My neighbor has a new 2022 General, I went over to help him with his first oil change. OMG. The engineers that came up with this should be tortured! ...slowly.

There is no easy way to get to the oil filter, unless you are a child with a double jointed elbow. Really. We looked at accessing it from the cab, a layer of plastic and two layers of metal, you can't even cut an access panel to get there. It's the equivalent of owning an XP1K, and having to change the filter from the driver side rear wheel well, it's that bad.

Anyone know how to do this easily? Is there a filter relocation kit somewhere?

Thanks for a friend (how lame does that sound? :ROFLMAO: )

All the best, James

Its a nightmare dude. :ROFLMAO: And good luck getting it off. They crank that thing down at the factory. I've seen lots of guys having to cut them off a piece at a time.

There are tons of threads about it over at the Polaris General Forums. There's a guy named Russel in AZ that designed an oil filter wrench specifically for the General, and it seems to be the best option.
I think they may mention his contact info in one of these threads.

Might suggest your buddy check out the Polaris Ranger forum, they have a forum specific to Gernerals - here's the link

if you do it don’t use the 3/8” hose supplied. Replace it with 1/2” I.D. Hose. Plus I replaced the fittings with 1/2” barbed fittings. This system works like a charm. Makes oil changes a snap.
