Either driver's side and disconnect the air hoses, or passenger side with a socket drive cap style wrench.

It's easy if you watch their video, LOL

 

Tried it from the passenger side. Ha ha. The video makes it look so easy, it's like they just gloss over the impossible part

Hadn't thought about removing the transmission hoses. I'll have HIM try that..

Its a nightmare dude. And good luck getting it off. They crank that thing down at the factory. I've seen lots of guys having to cut them off a piece at a time.

There are tons of threads about it over at the Polaris General Forums. There's a guy named Russel in AZ that designed an oil filter wrench specifically for the General, and it seems to be the best option.
I think they may mention his contact info in one of these threads.

Dang, I was debating between the general and rzr. Makes me glad I went with the rzr.

 

Install an oil filter relocation kit. Best thing I ever did. Oil changes now are a piece of cake.

if you do it don’t use the 3/8” hose supplied. Replace it with 1/2” I.D. Hose. Plus I replaced the fittings with 1/2” barbed fittings. This system works like a charm. Makes oil changes a snap.
