First real ride...and a couple questions.

Went out yesterday with my wife and some friends riding.

The 570 could only get up to about 40-45 MPH in the loose sand. About the same as my sportsman 500 and 550...though my buddy said he got up in the 50s on my 500.

I have a vibration/rattle on the exhaust. Seems to be coming from the heat shield on the muffler. Quick glance looked like it was welded on. Is there a fix for this?

We got high centered on the trail out there, and the frame catches on my trailer when trying to unload sometimes...so looks like the 2 inch lift will be my next mod. Any of them better than others? Best place to buy from? I think the one I stumbled on was the highlifter one.

Just happened, that when we got high centered, we were about 45 feet from the nearest thing to tie the winch off to...and the winch had a 40 foot rope..heh. We were able to get out and push it back while my wife put her foot in and gave it some gas.

Fun day.

Take a closer look at the muffler. My rattle was from the sway bar bushing bracket touching the exhaust where the springs are. If you look at the rear of the rzr look to the right side where your exhaust pipe is going into the muffler. That slip joint has a couple springs on it. My inside spring mount was hitting the sway bar bushing bracket. I notched it and now it's silent. Hope that helps

I had a rattle from the exhaust also and discovered the muffler has a lot of play in it, so I attached a couple of springs on each side of the muffler where the exhaust comes out to center the muffler, and noise went away.
As far as your ground clearance, how much do you and wifey weigh? Theses things only have a claimed 9.5" to begin with, which aint much, and it wont take long for springs to sack giving you only 8". I put on the "so called "2" Highlifter lift kit and gained about an inch and a half. Went to 26" Duro tires and got another inch. Then Racer Tech springs and got another inch to give me 11.5 with nobody in the rig.
Preventing getting high centered is more judging the height of the obstacle and determining the speed needed to clear it, than just depending on the rig to be high enough to clear it. Sorry, don't mean to sound condescending.

No problem Rokitman. I am 6'4" 290 lbs... I know the Y in the road and my trailer that I got hung up on would have been no problem with the ATVs I am used to. That is what I am looking for...similar clearance to that.

Long term plans for the suspension are 26" tires, 2 inch lift, and new shocks. Just need to prioritize based on $$ right now. The lift seemed like the most bang for the buck. I have a sportsman x2 I am selling now that we got this. It has 4-3 rims on it with 26s. If the buyer of the ATV does not want them, I may stick them on there short term...

Sean, hello. If you decide on a lift anytime soon HighLifter just sent me a 10% off coupon that i could send the code to you.

The difference between HL & RacerTech is; HL mounts bottom of shock mount, RT top.

Which is better? Which ever one that particular rider bought! All brand loyalties aside i have a HL, and i would have bought whichever one had the best deal and free ship.

I too killed a rattle with a BFH to bend muffler mount tabs away from frame and springs.

My Rattle was the bolt at the very end of the muffler holding the spark arrestor. Take out the bolt, put in a lock washer, tighten. Done :)

Thanks for the ride report :)

My rattle was the mounting point for the rear sway bar pivot, mounting bolt was loose.

Sorry, but I disagree. Standard lifts don't reduce travel, just raise ride height. The CFM kits are just spacers that add preload to the springs, thus adding some stiffness, thereby adding some lift, and compensating for the sag.

Let that be a lesson.

I always carry at least 1 if not two or three extra 20' tow straps

We always bring a tree saver and tow strap with us...they were in my ATV that a buddy was riding about 4 miles away. Every ATV/UTV I own has a winch on it. That is normally enough...

Once things had cooled down I took a rubber mallet and started tapping on things until I found what was rattling on mine.

Another lift option is the Quadboss 2" lift. I bought mine from Amazon for $130 which was cheaper than I could find the HL kit. It is currently up to $138 from the same seller:

QuadBoss Lift Kit - 2in. EPILK179 : Amazon.com : Automotive

It isn't the same welded together kit shown in the picture though. It appears to be exactly the same as the HL kit from what I have seen of the pictures of the HL. I just added a review on Amazon and added an image of the High Lifter kit to their gallery as a more accurate representation.

It definitely helped stop me from hitting every rock on the trail.

I wasnt completely happy with my mods, first did the springs RT, then the RT 2" lift..big difference but still now how i wanted. Ended up going the 5+ a-arms, beefed up the 2" lift,
and went with stock takeoff from a rzr4 and works awesome!!!!took off both sway bars too
I am now 3" longer wheel base, about 64.5 inches wide with arms, offset wheels and 1"spacers, 12.5 ground clearance...rides awesome, handles better and only hit in the worse of spots!!!! nice improvement if you dont need to be 50"

oops didnt put that they were stock rzr4 shocks,,big body and running with the lightest preload.

I have the Racer Tech medium weight springs on stock shocks to sell also.
the shocks have 30 hours on them and the RT springs have (2) 3 hour rides
just in case you or anyone else are looking for a set
thanks

HL 2" lift kit, HL 800 springs and 26" tires. I have ground clearance of 12" in the front and 12.5" in the rear. Don't bottom out, don't get high centered.
