Failed Springs

Why does Polaris fit their UTV’s , specifically a Pro R that I bought less than 1 year ago new , with inferior springs that fail almost immediately ? After about 650 miles , the Rzr became almost unridable . I didn’t bring it back in for warranty because I didn’t want the same springs put back on . I upgraded to Eibach and the ride is now amazing , but after spending over 45K this should not be normal . Why can’t our Rzr’s come with premium springs from the get - go ?

From ST website.

As for my experience. Had ST on my Pro XP4, rode good compared to stock springs but alot of body roll/dive/squat for my rig.

I've had Eibach on both the RZR's i've had and they ride great with enough support that there's not as much body roll. I don't ride with sway bars because I like articulation of the suspension with the terrain I ride.

Eibach- great for doing a spring only change without doing valving. With valving they are even better. Many other shock tuners(not ST) use Eibach spring packages and tune accordingly.

Shock Therapy- suck for a spring only change(really suck), but they work fine when you do the whole RIS (valving) from them.

So, IMO, if you are doing springs only, use Eibach's.
If you are doing a complete shock setup, you're good with any of the springs that the big dog(ST, MTS, etc.) shock tuners provide.

I would think spring rate is the same no matter who you use. 350lb is 350lbs and 14” is 14”. Now I do believe they all have their own witchery when it come to determining what spring rate you need but I don’t think the rates are different. if you order the same rate and size from either manufacturer they should be the same.

I’m talking quality springs, not some off brand garbage.

I could be wrong but I’ve done a ton of spring swaps and this has been my experience

It’s also pretty easy to get proper springs from any manufacturer as long as you have corner weights and shock lengths. Couple other variables but king has walked me through it a couple times.

I agree with @yamahoSHO on this statement: "The ST springs were soft, which road well, but it had a lot of lean/dive/squat." I've had a couple of customers replace ST with Zbroz for this reason. For those not running a front sway bar, the sway is pretty bad. I've been very pleased with the ZBroz kits. I installed the kit on my Turbo R at ~300 miles and it was a huge improvement. I now have around 2000 miles and have been very happy with the suspension performance. I also had their kit my Turbo S and loved them on that car too. I can also order Eibach and MTS offroad spring kits too if anyone wants to try one of their kits. Happy to help with a forum member price quote!

These threads always feel like an AA session. we've all been there and pissed off when we realized our springs collapsed and our ass was saggin. I had the same issue on my pro xp, made the same post.

for what it's worth, I will say I would agree that the ST springs ride like a dream, but they do allow a lot of lateral body roll.

Some people will say when the upper springs (tenders) are fully collapsed like this pic but the main indicator is that you've lost 2" of ground clearance/ride height or more. You can try to adjust the preload collars to get the ride height back but in most people's experience, mine included, the ride quality will be worse than ever after doing that. You really can't appreciate just how crappy the stock Polaris springs perform until you experience the ride difference of a quality aftermarket spring kit. It's worth every penny.
