Factory Air Filter vs. Uni Filter

Anyone running a uni filter on their machine? Looking for the best protection for my engine. Also curious about an outerwear for the factory filter.

Having used only uni filters on all of my atvs, I put uni on both of my rzr800's. All the years of atv riding I never had to overhaul an engine with a uni filter.

One problem that I did run into was the mass air flow sensor being located so close to the filter, filter oil will sometimes affect the sensor and it has to be sprayed clean. Has happened twice to me, during hot summer temps. I am pleased w filtration. Just have to be careful not to over oil the filter. Have not used an outerwear. And I have factory air boxes, no snorkles.

If I had to change filtration I would look into the air raid system.

Here is an option to consider.... We partnered with R2C to bring a stock replacement filter that is more efficient than the stock filter, uses no oils and is easily serviced with compressed air. It has a massive flange for clamping it to the intake tube and is studded at the end for extra support and a bullet proof install. R2C and their parent company have a 65 year history of sever duty and military filtration.
We have them in stock.

We can only go by the in house testing done by the R2C factory. The factory filter that comes with the XP1000 only has an efficiency of 98%. The filter media used in the R2C has an efficiency of 99.97%. That is a huge difference, so I would say that it should do very well. There are some very fine particles which most refer to as Silt. There are actually finer particles and are typically classified as clay. Nearly impossible to keep all particles out, short of not running your engine.

Mark,
Have already looked at that filter, I like how it clamps & with a support strap. When talking efficiency I guess your referring to actual particulate that passes. At what micron is the testing and how much restriction difference? Thanks

As it was explained to me by the factory it is based on gravimetric standards. Fractional efficiency as applied using ISO fine dust will more than double. They begin testing with .3um particle size and move into 10um+ particulate. Due to it's ability to shed dust cake this mitigates restriction rise.

It might be a lil over my head but, Thanks Mark
