ECU Editing software

I have access to dyno and wanting to do custom tuning on my machine. I bought the vividracing IFLASH and I can successfully flash the ECU. BUT, I cant find a good editor. VIVID suggested WINOLS and I downloaded their demo and If you know what all that raw HEX data is then I guess its fine but figuring out fuel tables, timing tables and the ETC controls, fan temps and rev limiters and such would be impossible without having something that maps that out into usable tables. I bought the BITEDIT software and it partially works and their customer service is AWFUL so getting corrected maps to allow editing the data has proven fruitless. I tried contacting DIMSPORT and they wont even respond to request for information on their product and so I am here trying to find out if anyone is altering their programming or just using pre packaged tunes from other vendors which is fine if you plan to leave the motor stock and just bolting on some exhaust but for a good accurate tune on modified vehicle nothing beats strapping on the dyno. I have been doing that with GM vehicles for nearly 20 years and so I have been riding atvs for as long as I can remember and so I want to play with mine and then likely expand to buddies and so forth as I get a package setup. Much like Mr. RPM for can am stuff. their shop is like 30 minutes from me. through my business dealings i have people who do CNC head porting and such and if I can get this polaris thing going then developing a setup that works with some cnc ported heads would be awesome but that is a ways off. now I would just like to unleash my 900.

Power Core Software Suite from Dynojet. C3 is the calibration editor you’re looking for. WinPEP 8 is the data analysis software to review logs. C3 actually cell traces when you’re tuning so you know “where the ECU is” when it’s making decisions, ie what table it’s in. You can also sync tables from C3 to WinPEP 8 to post process the data and make the corrections.

The software is free to download and use. No trial period, keys, or whatever. C3 has the most definition files of any tune editor for Polaris ORV’s, so I’m sure your vehicle is supported. If it’s not, Dynojet support usually has it added within 6-8 hours.

The calibration delivery tool is the Powervision CX. It actually reads the original calibration over the diagnostic port and allows you to use that as your base tune, or you can off the shelf tunes from Dynojet, AA, or any other shop / tuner using the Dynojet tools.

So if I am understanding correct.
Buy a Powervision CX from DynoJet or AA, is there an advantage to either?
Buy the Power Core Software Suite from Dynojet, has to be Dynojet?
Get free WinPeP 8 off internet.
Purchase a Tune for the Powervision CX from Dynojet or AA, When you buy the Powervision does a tune come with it?
Start learning!
I bought the Bullydog to do this same thing but it turned out the Bullydog is best for monitoring and clutching but will not let you make any tune changes.

When you buy from Dynojet, or from a reseller / tuner like AA you'll get the PVCX. In either case, you can download a tune file from the Dynojet website to use / get started, or you can use your original tune that will be uploaded to the PVCX. If you buy from AA he would probably include a tune file, and then you could still try a Dynojet tune as well.....no harm there. I'm pretty sure the AA tune will be locked, so you can view / edit, and the Dynojet tune for a 900 will be "open", so you can see what's done and go from there.

Power Core Software Suite (PCSS) is free to download and use. Contained within it is WinPEP8 Dyno Control, WinPEP Data Analysis, and C3.....the latter 2 is what you'll use unless you happen to have a Dynojet dyno as well :) When you use C3 to open you original tune, or the Dynojet tune the software will download the appropriate template that will "define the tune" so in other words it will be in a human readable format as opposed to what you saw in WinOLS.

Correct, the BullyDog GT is a tune delivery tool and data monitor, just like the Dynojet PVCX. The difference is outlined above, that being what you get in PCSS. The complete PVCX tool set is extremely powerful and puts you in control.

Yes, what I mentioned in my post, Dynojet Powercore Software Suite. Within it you’ll find C3 and it’s the equivalent to HP Tuners tuning application, or SCT’s Advantage 3. Also, like HP Tuners scanner application or SCT’s Livelink, you can datalog with WinPEP8 Data in Powercore. Difference being we sync data logs and index them to tuning tables, so upon review it shows you precisely where the ECU is referencing the calibration data. That’s a step up for sure.

Since BullyDog = SCT = Derive - they only have 1 tuning modular platform on the automotive side which is Advantage III, I can't imagine they would create a completely separate tuning software package for the UTV tuning market, since Advantage III is a framework that supports tons of vehicles.

My guess is that Bikeman and others just have the dealer version of Advantage III with the ability to make tunes for Polaris ECU's.

SCT will sell you Advantage III for 1 ECU template for 300.00, and you can add additional ECU's for 100.00. Its their pro-racer package. I use it for my 04' Cobra. I'll have to call them and see if they will give me the real story on what they will do for Polaris if anything.
