Duraclutch Primary Doesn't Fully Spread Open To Install New Belt

First week as a first time Razor XP4 1000 owner. I have a Duraclutch installed on this second hand machine with125 hours on it. The belt was delaminating a bit so I thought I would replace it with a new Polaris 3211148 belt (same as Duraclutch 35-024). However, during the attempted install I found out the primary was not fully opening making belt installation impossible. The two beveled clutch plates are about 1.75" in separation at the top and the outer clutch plate to the housing (the closest plate to the mechanic) is about 0.75" (I can stick my finger down between the plate and the housing). The outer plate can spin in either direction by hand, can slide it toward the other plate, but cannot slide it outward closer to the housing as it is hitting a sheeve (at least it feels like a sheeve with my fingers). I have not removed the clutch from the machine yet. How do I get this working again?

I posted some pictures of the primary clutch removed above. I see what is causing it not to open fully. Some of the black pucks were hanging out that prevented the outer plate to move toward the housing. I don't know if this is normal or not. Some of the black pucks look damaged and don't know if this is normal wear. The pucks can fall back in place due to gravity.

Also, I don't know who dictates the clutch installation torque specs as I see them quoted between 38 ft-lb on youtube all the way up to the polaris spec of 55 ft-lbs. Some say use blue lock tite and others don't mention it being used during installation. Can someone also clear this up for me?

In a nutshell, here are my questions...
  1. Is the wear on the black “pucks” normal and still serviceable?
  2. Who dictates the clutch installation torque specs since I see them quoted anywhere between 38 ft-lb on YouTube all the way up to the Polaris spec of 55 ft-lbs. Some say use blue lock tite and others don't mention it being used during installation.
  3. What is the installation manual number I should look at on your site? What is the a part number for this clutch that I can refer to (primary and secondary)?
  4. How does it run? We have been having a lot of fun on and off road climbing steep hills, running it up to 40 mph on the road, etc. The only issue I experienced in the driving aspect is when I drive it slowly (1mph) into the my tight garage space, it wants to lurch a lot making it difficult to park. What causes the lurching? I only got into this mess as part of my preventative maintenance and the cleaning of the inside of the plastic clutch housing.
  5. Can you help me determine if the clutch is okay to continue driving for a while more, or if it requires maintenance?
  6. Do any of these conditions appear to be due to proper alignment between the clutch shafts and/or alignment between the primary and secondary controlling the trueness of the belt travel?
