driven clutch always spinning

So I got my transfer case rebuilt now my driven clutch seems to always be spinning or engaged. So I can't shift into gear with the motor on because transmission seem to be working. It shifts normal when the motor is off. I can hold the driven clutch when in park but the belt whines loud. I didn't do the work except remove and replace the motor. I am wondering what would cause this. I see in the manual that the spacers on this clutch have to be put back in the same order that they came off. I'm not sure they did that because when I went to the shop to look at work being done. all the parts were in a box a mixed together. Would that be my problem. I do have an EPI belt and I've tried it with and with out the nylon washer the belt comes with. Any help would be great. Thanks

what do you mean by "transfer case"? The rear differential? The transmission?
If the secondary clutch is turning that means the primary is engaged and turning the belt. That could mean several things... Maybe the spring in the primary is fatigued and needs replaced. Maybe the bearing is packed with belt dust and needs replaced. Maybe the buttons and shims in the primary need replaced. Maybe the clutches are out of alignment (shims behind the secondary).

hey Tuf-Skin I think you are right with the shims on the secondary not put back right. I dont think its the clutch itself. because everything was work fine before the work was done. I will pull the secondary and start there. BTW. thanks for the video because I was going to open up my other rzr just to see what it should look like.

I think that is/was my problem. My buddy, Todd, who also has a rzr said the same thing. That he would go with the two way bearing and that you would think it be better. Thanks Cliff. I was going nuts. I could not have done it without your help. So I think I'm go with the EPI clutch kit and the two way bearing.

No worries. Glad you found the problem.

You might check to see if the washers are still on both sides of the bearing. sometimes they dissintegrate when the bearing or belt go out. You might need to order those when you order the bearing.

Also, to replace the bearing you need to remove the spider. this takes special tools and high torque, so you might want a dealer or clutch vendor to do it for you.

It is the bearing for sure. We broke the clutch apart and the cage is in pieces and most of the roller bearings fell out. We made our own holder out of scrap laying around the yard and were able to get the spider off. But it took some creative thinking for sure.

Is this a serviceable part? should I be breaking my clutch apart to blow out the dust or maybe grease some times? The kind of riding we do is dusty and sometime there is a little water. In the manual it say to check the buttons and weights but nothing on the bearing. Kinda seems like you shouldnt have to be taking the clutch part . But how do I avoid this from happenig again?

The bearing that goes bad is on the price that is on the engine. Pull your belt off and see if the center bearing spins free. I f it doesnt , get a new one and replace.. I took mine to my dealer and they broke my clutch apart for me, I cleaned and put my new bearing on, and they tightened it back up for me and charged me like $30. I took it home and reassembled. I had to replace the bearing on both of my rzr's.
