Donuts

Hello, I'm new to the sxs world. Recently bought a 2020 Razr 900S, and really like it. Runs like a scalded dog, but when I try to do donuts on our dirt road the engine lays down while I'm sliding sideways. If I let off the gas momentarily and push it again it takes right off fine. It does this every time I'm sliding sideways. Otherwise it runs great. Anyone experience anything like this? Thanks, Charlie

I appreciate all the replies, especially the one's that offered suggestions about the actual problem with the engine cutting out. Plenty of fuel, can't see any loose wires, and no codes. It runs great other than this. As far as the safety concerns, I fully understand the risks. I'm 71 years old, and used to do some short dirt track racing in my younger days. I have a pretty good understanding of the physics of hanging the rear end out in a slide. My donuts aren't anything too crazy. Slow speed on our hard packed limerock roads, in an area that has 2 or 3 inches of sand on top. No ruts. Pretty tame stuff. I was really hoping that someone would have an idea about what this could be. I was starting to wonder if there might be some kind of "motion sensor" built in that detected a slide and idled the engine down. Oh well, thanks for the input.

When we suggest fuel we are thinking less than half a tank can slosh away from the pump and make it stumble. Donut to the left will get farther around than donut to the right. The pump is on the right side of center in the tank.

Other possibilities are:
Torn intake boots flexing and letting unmetered air in causing it to go lean.

As suggested above loose wire connection. This includes a battery moving in the battery box and temporarily killing the fuel pump and ignition.

Keep the rubber side down.
Let us know what you find that fixes it

Bought a wrecked / rolled over 2020 pro xp4 with 41 miles on it back in 2021.

I wasn’t doing donuts but when it would get down to about 1/2-1/4 tank it would cut fuel, let off stab the throttle again and all was good. Though dang fuel pump must be going bad. Fast forward a couple more rides and same issue. So I bought a new fuel pump, pulled the old one and noticed the fuel pump had slid up in the holder so it was sitting on the bottom of the tank.

slid it back down added a couple zip ties so it can’t slide up.

ran that fuel pump for another 6k mile without ever cutting out again.

Yeah, replace your prop shaft before doing that.. I put my .50"HDPE skids on less than 200 miles ago, then got involved in a gear reduction, which pointed to new axles and prop shaft.. I hate the thought of tearing that miserable so and so out and putting it back on solo... it's built hell for stout, and I knew putting it on, that it'd have to come down a couple times a year for service and lubrication, but didn't expect it to be so soon..
