Differences in skid plates 1000/turbo. Need help

I just got a Polaris factory 3/8" skid plate and the rear holes are not lining up. I have a 16 turbo. I bought the one pictured. It appears underneath the rear diff is different. The skid has a cross shape and mine has a completely different shape causing it to not pull all the way against the frame. As you can see the rear two holes don't line up either. Should I hack it up to make it fit or send it back cause it obviously doesn't fit? For as much as this thing costs I shouldn't have to cut anything. So is there a difference in the turbo/1000non turbo frames? According to Rocky Mountain and Polaris's website it should fit. I haven't even tried the front half yet.

Thanks for the help. I called a friend who works at a dealer and he told me the frames were changed on the newer ones. He told me they have an older version Polaris skid and a newer version skid. He described the differences and I have the older skid. I rechecked Polaris's website and it has a different part number, the newer one. I ordered it from rocky mountain and they stated it would fit. Hopefully they will let me return it.

If it doesn't fit and they said it would, they should have ZERO issues with you returning/exchanging it for the correct one.

Yes there is a differance. The front section of stock XPT and XP skids are the exact same but the rear sections are different. I have actually swapped the front sections of the factory skids between the models. I know my Trail Armor skid for my XPT came with a spacer section that goes between the rear section and the frame to make it line up perfectly.

I have a 17 1000/4 seater and ordered from Polaris website. It said it would ift but same problem you are having. They even had me call my dealer, Abernathy, and see what was wrong. Abernathy did some looking and said that they would exchange it for the correct one, no charge. Then the Polaris support called and said that Polaris doesn't make a skid for that machine. Already had the front 2 pieces on, left the rear stock piece and rode it last weekend. They wanted me to return the entire set for a refund. I think that i can cut the last few inches where the cross is molded into the HMW plate and make it work. Won't be the best but, i really don't want to fool with removing it and sending it back since i have used the front sections.
The support from POPO sucks. And I bet their website hasn't been updated still.

Since the Xp1k came out, there are three different frame versions.

2014 and 2015 XP1000 have one style rear frame
2016 Turbo, 2016 & 2017 XP1000 have a second style rear frame where the rear support under the diff hangs down further.

The front part of the skids are interchangeable on either, but the rear part is different.

2017 Turbo has a third style rear frame, and a different front frame as well. I have not had one in the shop yet to know if any current production skid plate works on this as well.

This isn't entirely accurate. I own a '15 Fox Edition 2 seater with an April of 2015 build date. I bought the Polaris skid from the dealer that was meant for a 2014 AND a 2105. Same difference. Rear section didn't have fasteners that lined up for 12"+.

I had to exchange the skid set for a 2016 model year version that fit properly.

I can find the skid part numbers that did and didn't work if needed.

They're made with a very thin, flexible plastic.

Get a sharp enough rock and drop onto it and it'll push through the plastic.

I've had two instances where a frame tube actually hung up on a rock because the factory skid deflected enough. Had to back off of the rock.

These aftermarket skids are firm and strong enough that they will support the weight on the vehicle even on a single point. They'll slide over any obstacles with ease.
