Chapter 4 of the service manual. I am at work and do not have the service manual on this computer but when i het home i would be glad to look up the exact page if you need it.

I got to tell ya, a guy at work says Chapter 4 has the Error Code 26 needs a raise in pay. Sure enough it is shown in the 2009-2010 Service Manual as Vehicle Speed Sensor:Implausible. Off to the service department. Thanks.

Just food for thought...If the service dept you spoke with didn't know what the 26 code was, I BELIEVE I'D FIND ANOTHER ONE.:sad: JMO

We believe we found the meaning of CODE 26, it appears to be the TPS (Throttle Positioning Sensor). This is located off your Throttle body.

Well the manual might tell you one thing but I have the same error code and just tried another TPS on other throttle body and it clears the codes and works fine now.

 

Hmmm, did you disconnect the battery while you were replacing the TPS? this will clear some codes temporarily, but not necessarily solve the problem..

 

That would take care of a error code 27. I hope someone finds out what is the real fix so I can let the dealer know. I have the same problem with my RZR 4 I just bought.

 

Code 26 is the vehicle speed sensor...........

Friend of mine has a new 2010 Orange Rzr S with 600 miles and 52 hours and last night was running 750 RPM at idle and sounded like it was missing one one cylinder and making a chatter sound at idle. At speed it sounded normal. Read the codes and received a (51) five blinks and one blink, then a numeric 26. Does anyone know what causes this code and how to correct this code?

 

implausable? does that mean the dash thinks the speed sensor is making stuff up? hehe.
pull the speed sensor, follow the wires to the tranny, clean it up, check for bad connections, bare wires, etc. if it still does it, replace the sensor. i cant remember if the speed sensor is under oil or not. (i.e. i dont remember if you have to drain the tranny to pull it or not)

I have read on other sites where they have replaced the sensor as well and no fix yet. Maybe somedody has some insight that as had this problem?

Did you try disconnecting the battery to clear the code......

 

I did put a bigger TB on the unit. Could this error code be related to the TPS?

my s is showing the same code .my dealer is confused ...lol.....

 

try this it seems to work for people on the street...alot of the cars that come in that the dealers buy the old owners just put a piece of black eletrical tape over the ck eng light...works for them......lol

 

Maybe someone can help with a cheat for a test light like the TPS test.........if not print this sheet out before you go to the dealer. They will likely not know what the speed sensor is.

 

the speed sensor is just a magnetic hall switch and can be teasted with a good meter/osillascope

OK guys. Not sure if mine is the same as yours but here it goes. I too was getting the code 26. I have only had it out once and barely have any miles on it and I was getting the code 26. I was pissed. Anyway. I was wondering if it had to do with the paddle tires and how it was performing in the sand. So much wheel spin etc. I tried to clear the codes several times with no luck. I put the stock tires back on it. Ran it up and down the street a couple of times and then I cleared the code. This time it took. Was it the paddle tires and diff ratio that could have caused the problem. Dont make sense I know but it worked. The speedo worked the entire time too which was wierd. You wold think with this code that would have been irratic. Anyhow, Worked for me. Thought I would share. Im going to dumont friday so we will see if it stays clear. If not Ill do it again.

Im still pissed but oh well. Ill keep my fingers crossed. How did everyone else get the code to clear? With the code did anyone show any performance issues? If it doesnt effect performance or anything then I say screw it and ride:ride:. JMO

Are you getting the blink code from a number on the readout or the blinking. If you are getting from the blinking ** ****** I don't think you are getting a real code. You can call me off-line 714 970-8064 Mark

 

Hello, Seems to be no resolution on code 26 ? I get code 26 on my 2010 RZR-S and it will sometimes not run at all at full throttle and idles at 850 instead of near 1200 rpm. When this happens it seems to run fine for a while again if I just turn it off and restart it? Also this machine has always seemed slower than my 2008 RZR. Any thoughts? Thanks, Nick
