I remember at one time this RZR S thread was "THE" place to be and had ALL the excitement. Now with the 900's, 1000's & Turbo's, it feeling a bit like a ghost town. BUT, I would not trade mine for either one cause it has plenty power, is reliable, and does what I bought it to do. So, "All hail to the RZR S". LOL:pepper1:

X2!!!! All I see is 900 or 1000 discussions!!! Where are all the proud 800s owners???

I would like a little more power, a little more ground clearance, and easier belt access ... But, I have lots of extra parts, the major issues with it has been addressed, it is reliable, already has all the aftermarket goodies .... and .... wait for it .... it is PAID FOR! Just a no brainer from my point of view :)

EXACTLY !!!!! Mine does what I need it to.

My 800 s does 65 mph, runs all the logging trails, and goes thru mud to top of snorkels, and I'm the only rzr in 15 square miles or more, and its best feature is its paid for.
I drive to town 12 miles away and drive to my hunting camp 40 miles away....do I need a 900-1000-1000 turbo NO.
Is my 800 s for sale no would I trade it no would I give it away no.
Best atv/utv I've ever owned I'll keep it till it dies then ill part it out I luv my 800

I miss my old 800 sometimes those suckers were awesome
But don't be fooled the new cars are also pretty dang cool!!! Elbow room!!
If I could have I would have kept my old 800, but I had to use it to buy the new xp...
Wife misses her old 800S too, but there was no room for kids and a dog :)

:rm_thumbdown: I must of got a Monday built 2012 RZR 800S. It's quality and engineering has cost me a bundle. Now it is gone. I was definitely afraid each time I took it out, that something else would fail. Sold with 2800 miles on it. When running it did what I wanted it to do. Rear drive ($1800) at 1700 miles, and fuel pump assembly ($300) at 2300 miles, cause me so much anguish, I will never buy a Polaris product again. Also can say I will probably never buy a side by side again, and keep riding my dual sport motorcycle when I need a dirt fix. :ride:

I understand everyone wanting the 900 and 1000... would love to have one myself but I am happy with my 800S. It paid for and will do fine until I find a killer deal on a used 1000. I will more than likely still keep the 800. The one thing that does fret me is of course no one is making new accessories for the 800s

I have a lot of respect for those on this thread. The last several months have produced those who are just beside themselves that they MAY not have the latest and greatest anymore on 9/1. It's just that "gotta be better than the other guy" attitude that drives me nuts. Jeez, ride what you have a be happy and stop thinking you (those in that category) matter so much and that anyone else really cares about what you have! Back to the topic, I broke the rear diff (common problem) on my '12 rzr S and then sold it but I still think the suspension was plusher on that machine than it is on my xp 4 900 even with the WE needle valve upgrade. The 800s are great machines if you're careful with the air filter and get the rear diff fixed.

Ok, I have a 2014 rzrs. Should I be concerned about my air filter? Why? I had a 2011 and had to sell it. I wasn't quite ready to buy another one when the 2015s came out. But I'm in a wheelchair and went look at the new body style. The way the door frame was built coming down the side of the seat would have made it hard if not impossible for me to lift myself in. So I desperately searched for a base model 800S. Found one 3 hours away from home. This body style is so easy to get into. Low seat and I removed the bar on the side of the seat. I love my rzr. I ride around town, use it to hunt and ride my kids. No mud riding or sand dunes for me. For my driving style, a ranger would have been fine but seat height was way too high. But I love the plush ride even with the sach shocks. Plenty good for what I use it for.

Scott, the factory air induction location on the 800's just suxs, draws air from between the seats and is just full of engine killing dust. Most of us with 800's did the "Grumpy" modification to pre-filter the air getting to the engine and belt. Once that is done the filter requires a lot less maint. and the filter housing is typically clean of dust. Especially good news when running in a desert environment or super dusty areas.

Still luvin my 800 S.
Great for putting around.
And I don't have to compete with the fast guys.
Still gives me a grin when I drive it.
And it's still reliable as ever.

Gonna keep it for a few more years then get something newer.

I bought my 09 S this past spring, to test the waters and see if we'd really use one. Found out very quickly it's replacing our 4wheelers minus the dunes/drag bike.
In that time we've done the topend and now a clutch but we're hooked. We bought a cheaper one with cash and paying the price but still don't think we'll sell it to upgrade, just add it to the fleet when we do get a 1k xp

i just can't see 25k on a new buggy, these things are getting out of hand with the price, especially for the working class, i do enjoy mine when its not broke, but will never buy another polaris, the quality is just not there, i traded my rhino and cash and bought this one, its paid for, hard to save up 25k for a new one, won't bring enough anyway to trade or sale, i'll just keep it and enjoy it, i've learned to take a good tool box and keep spare parts in the trailer for repairs

The only thing I'm seeing that bothers me is aftermarket companies are already stopping production on alot of 800 stuff. I understand the race to come out with new items to sell is long gone but stopping production on existing parts makes it really seem obselete.People throw so much money at brand new machines it's really killed the 800 and soon the 900 xp it seems.

Long live the 800 class, cant afford the newer ones, happy with what my wife and I have, we dont need the speed, just like to cruze thru the woods and enjoy the view, alitte mud here and there is nice also. have had mine for almost 3 years and have only had to replaced one axle and have done the oil changes when needed. :ride:

I bought my 08 800 a few months ago and is my first sxs...its not an s model but I new I was adding a huge lift kit so I bought the standard one..over the last few months I have bought a bunch of accessories including the the extended fenders so it looks like an s...as some of yall did,i paid cash for it...20k was just to much to have to finance for a toy...you think this forum is slow..the standard rzr forum is slower.lol

Another benefit with all the guys I ride with, mine is the least likely to be stolen off the trailer. I think they will take the 1000 or the two 900XPs before they mess with the antique. Still goes everywhere I want to go, sure more HP would be nice, but then I would probably have it wrapped around a tree.
