I'm having code 636 cps so I'm interested

I have been fighting an intermittent loss of power and dying. This cps 636 code only set once. I only have 2.5 volts to the cps but it still runs. In the automotive repair field I would expect either 5v or 12v. The service manager at Polaris doesn't even know.

 

Mine is 2.5 as well I omhed the sensor it's 645 ohms also I check fuel pressure Hooked up gauge let it idle it died after 45 min gauge stayed on 45psi. It will not fire right back up but if it sits for a few minutes it will fire back up

This is a common sign of a failing crank sensor if it will fire up after it cools down.

 

I found the harness rubbed through on the shifter cable about 8inches from ecu but it is one of the stator wires grounding out. I won't know until the next ride if that's my problem. I'd like to see a third person tell us it's 2.5!

 

I agree with rush2252 on cps shutting down hot because I see that in the auto repair field often but it's funny we both have 2.5 volts on our power input.

 

Checked know good running 800s cps power input circuit today and it appears that 2.5 volts is correct.

 

That was a great idea thanks for the information, I just talk to a guy that had our same problem last week his rzr would run and then it would shut down when it warmed up he replaced the sensor and now all is good, said he had remove the transmission bracket to get the sensor out looks like that's what I'm going to have to do too, I wonder what a good working sensor would ohm at? I should run mine until It shuts down and then check and see if it's the same as right now which is 640 and will fire right up.

2.5V reference is normal, its a pull up or pull down reference

 

So just took the rzr out hoping it would mess up that way I could test the sensor for ohms and sure enough it test tested zero once a shutdown on me 20 minutes into the ride where at the shop it tested 640. Looks like new sensor it is

2013 800s

 

I think my code was set by me while trying to keep it running and winching to get up the last obstacle before I could be towed. What I did find was a shorted stator wire which also burnt the stator connector and a shorted t-map signal wire. I bet my main problem was the t-map short but all is fixed and will ride this weekend.

 

Replaced Cps all is good for many miles now

Good to hear. I have many miles myself with know problems.

 

I'm have issues with my 570 when I check the voltage on the ref wire to cps it is 2.4 volts, and the signal wire also has 2.4 volts with the cps not plugged up, any ideas
