Considering ordering my first SXS - questions on the process

My brother and sister-in-law have a couple of SXS ('14 Maverick 100R and '21 X3 X Turbo RR); after doing some riding over Christmas vacation, we got the itch (they live in another country, so we can't ride with them). I want a 4 seater sport SXS, with Can-Am and Polaris being the only real contenders in that market. I was leaning toward the Can-Am (I like the seating position and how they ride/drive), but their equivalent to the RZR Pro XP 4 Sport was the same MSRP in 2021 and as soon as 2022 hit it is now $6,000 MORE. That makes the decision much easier. I'll still have to sit in an RZR to be sure, but I'm betting it is fine and I like it is a bit shorter.

Questions:

1 - Do dealers have territories or can I buy from anyone? I've never purchased a new off-road toy before, but from my boating experience, you can't buy outside of your territory new from many boat manufacturers - at least the ones I'd be a customer of. I'm happy to road trip several hours away to get the best price.

2 - We want the full enclosure setup (roof, windows, the works) plus a winch and probably the heater. Better off buying with the SXS or aftermarket?

3 - Does Polaris offer a power wiper and washer kit for the windshield or do I have to go aftermarket? Didn't see an option on the Polaris site. This is a must-have for rain/mud riding, especially since our use will be outside of boating season where weather is less likely to be nice (or during bad weather weekends during boating season).

4 - When ordering options like winches, roofs, etc. does the dealer charge to install these, or is it part of the price when purchasing the SXS? Or dealer dependent? I turn my own wrenches so I'd never pay someone to do this work, but if it is free, well, I like free labor

5 - There will be other options I will eventually want, such as adding a stereo, 2nd battery, etc. but is any of this worth doing at the time of order instead of waiting later? I'm a Wetsounds fan, so I'll likely do one of their SXS setups, for example.

6 - I know the wife will want to just pay cash, but what are the typical finance rates on these things (I have stellar credit, so assuming the best rate possible). If it is a low enough rate I'm good with making some payments instead of writing a check.

I realize that if I order today it would probably take 3-4 months to get my ride, but I'm very good with that as I still need to get my bigger shed installed to store it.

You never know what little thing will be awesome, or, totally suck.

I'm happy to road trip several hours away to get the best price. Our local dealer has been pretty nice to us, so we've always bought local.

2 - We want the full enclosure setup (roof, windows, the works) plus a winch and probably the heater. Better off buying with the SXS or aftermarket? My experience is that most "extras" are better in the aftermarket - nicer roof, doors, more lbs on the winch, for example.

We own an XP 1K, so IDK on this one regarding Polaris windshield with wiper. Aftermarket, there are lots of options, like MotoAlliance.

4 - When ordering options like winches, roofs, etc. does the dealer charge to install these, Sometimes, depends on the dealer or is it part of the price when purchasing the SXS? Or dealer dependent? I turn my own wrenches so I'd never pay someone to do this work, but if it is free, well, I like free labor We got the lower doors installed by the dealer at the time of purchase, and they didn't charge hours. Friends added lots of stuff to their General (same dealer) at purchase and same deal, no hours, just cost of parts

5 - There will be other options I will eventually want, such as adding a stereo, 2nd battery, etc. but is any of this worth doing at the time of order instead of waiting later? I'm a Wetsounds fan, so I'll likely do one of their SXS setups, for example. Tires and wheels. If you do research and want different tires, do it at the time of purchase, so you'll get the most resale $ for your take-offs. Doesn't have to be by the dealer, BTW - you can do it yourself, or, go to a local tire shop. Unless the dealer does you a real solid on the take-offs.

6 - I know the wife will want to just pay cash, but what are the typical finance rates on these things (I have stellar credit, so assuming the best rate possible). If it is a low enough rate I'm good with making some payments instead of writing a check. The dealers have a couple of financing options, rates were high but not enough to make you flinch. We got a better deal through our credit union. It was definitely more legwork for us though. If you pay cash, it is much easier to get your rig plated in other states, like South Dakota, so you can be street legal.

I realize that if I order today it would probably take 3-4 months to get my ride, but I'm very good with that as I still need to get my bigger shed installed to store it.

Lots of Items Ill try to answer some. I have A pro xp
1. I can't say anything about if territorial but many people drive to get better deals and some people drive hours upon hours. specifically I69 in Tennessee I believe.
2. Not sure but the polaris OEM enclosure for the pro is the better one on the market right now i believe
3. I am 99% sure the pro xp has the power wiper and washer feature with the polaris glass windshield, but it is an additional add on,
4. dealer specific
5. depends which model you get. some come with all rockford fosgate setups with polaris plug and play, so you have to do a conversion or get a base model and add sound after.
6. no Idea paid cash

I have never heard of anything saying you can't buy based on your "territory", for boats, cars, SXS's. etc. Where do you live? It sounds like some BS a dealer told you to keep your business.

Are you handy at all when it comes to turning wrenches? If so, you can likely save thousands of dollars if you add your winch, cab, and other add-ons yourself. Especially if you are financing. Dealership installed "options" are often times at inflated prices and add interest onto that...... Now if you are not mechanical at all and don't have any tools there is the piece of mind having the stuff installed for you.

I live in Nevada and bought mine in Iowa. That said when you settle on which one you want, use the internet to find dealers with one or one on order.

The dealer I bought mine from gave me $2000 off the MSRP, plus Polaris gave me another $1,000 discount for being a Veteran. This was on a 2021 Turbo s 4 Velocity they had on order. That was during this summer when most dealers were adding $3000-5000 on top of MSRP. ( alot of dealers are still adding to MSRP)

That said I have a friend here that has a Fabrication shop and works on all kinds of UTV's. He had a couple of Can Am's in his shop one day when I was there and he showed me the frame and roll cage. They are marginal at best escpecially when you look at a Polaris. So I went with Polaris. I have to add, if you are into safety and I have rolled UTV's in the past, the first aftermarket addition to my Turbo S was a new roll cage.

Good luck on your search after making a decision.
