Hi all.

Just drained the front diff for its second service. About 650 miles on this fluid.

Came out dark grey and what I thought was a fair amount sludge on magnet in drain plug. No chunks or anything like that.

I don't remember the first service looking like this.

Normal?

Thanks in advance!

My front diff oil always comes out looking like greyish/brown metal flake paint and the magnetic drain plug is covered with fine metal powdery paste that reminds me of valve grinding compound.
After draining, I usually pour a few ounces of fresh oil in it with the drain plug out to flush it a little...

iirr 7 oz is a full oil change in front diff.
With Polaris on demand front diff oil, thats about $2.50 per front diff fluid change.
Changing it often is the only thing we can do to try and preserve the front diff.

From all the issues I have had with my front diff. 2 replacements and now it is looking like a third. I would change the fluid pretty often, especially if running it or parking it in water over the diff. Mine is always sludgy, milky, or brownish. Never no metal on magnet but the sludge build up the previous poster mentioned. It is about the quickest, cheapeast, and easiest service you can do on one of these POPO's.
