Hello guys:

I started to here a clanking noise at the motor area, not clear where it came from , it looks maybe from the upper part of the motor but sometimes I feel it came from lower. Not sure. I do notice that it goes out when I rev up the motor. It accelerate good, makes idle at about 900 to 1080 rpms. I runs good.

This link is a video that the sound can be heard.

First things first, that's way too clean!

Second, you may need a simple valve lash adjustment, but inspect them first, even with a broken hold down bolt, or rocker damage, it may still idle fine. Don't rev it until you cure it.

I bought a stetoscope and found mayor clicking at the valva area. So Intemoved the valve cover and found this rocker with most play. All have little play but his one had most. Ehat you think, is that normal play?

That is a bit of play, but when the rocker bolt is torqued down and the pushrod is in the indent in the rocker arm...its not going to move much!

Next thing I would do is pull the throttle body out of the intake manifold and see what you find. If the outlet of the throttle body, the intake manifold and the intake ports are covered with a mud of gas and dust...then its probably your crank making the clank.

Just thoughts,

Pirate

My wife's 14 800s was doing the same thing. Talk to service manager about it when it was 2 weeks old he said "it's common nothing to worry about". Well at 43hrs and 460 mi and 3 weeks after warrany ran out it went out. Ended up being a lifter that was trying to seize and finally did resulting in broken valve and trashed everything in corresponding cylinder. Dealer went to bat for me against Polaris and polaris agreed to pay for parts I pay labor(if service mngr would have put a note in my file about it polaris would have covered it 100%- lesson learned there) dealer remember me asking about it when new so they cut me a break on labor costs only charging me 5.5hrs labor when they actually had 22hrs in it. Batlesville cycle Sports is a top notch operation.

Just an update. After verifying clutch, rockers, found that one lifter is not retaining oli it was dry. Hope this is the problem. Locally the are not much polaris mechanics and unfortunedly, local dealers only replace parts until problem is gone. For example they told me that this engine has time chain and this one does not have.

Hope this work
