Hey all! I'm new to the forum and I'm looking for some feedback. I have a 2017 Polaris 1000k XP with Ride Command. I'd like to get a couple bluetooth headsets to hear music and communicate with. I'm looking at the Sena 10R. Anybody use these? If so, are they any good?

Good comparison I found between the two...

The 20S has dual Bluetooth Radios, so it can mix two audio sources at once. You can listen to music AND talk on the intercom at the same time. The SMH10 can only listen to one source at a time. Talk on the Intercom OR listen to music.

The 20S has an FM radio, the SMH10 does not.

The 20S has an "ambient" mode, so you can hear things outside the helmet, the SMH10 does not.

The 20S can be setup from an iPhone or Android App, the SMH10 cannot.

The 20S has a "Group Intercom" feature that allows you to initiate an Intercom conversion with something like 8 other 20S's with a single command. The SMH10 requires daisy chain connecting to get multiple people on the same intercom communication.

Both are firmware upgradable.

Both can talk to other brands of Intercoms.

Welcome to the forum by the way and the never ending money pit!

I'm going on a group excursion next week where most of us have the 20S unit. This will be the my first big trip with them. I'll post feedback afterwards.

I found the 20S-01D (two units) the cheapest on ebay for $400. Amazon has them for $449 if you want the support.

My group uses the Sena 20s when we are on our Harleys. They work fine up to approx. 3/4 mile, if you have the antennas up. If it were me I would buy the intercom with headsets from Rugged or PCI and get a handheld 5W radio (Baofeng, PCI or rugged) with the connecting cord from handheld to intercom. Cost isn't that much more and you would have more talking distance between cars.

Following up after our trip to RRB a few weeks ago. When we rode with helmets, the Sena 20s units worked great. Loved being able to listen to my own music. The rest of the group had 10R units which were limited to linking 3 other units. 20s has a much higher limit. Once you learn the buttons, the 20s is pretty easy to use even with riding gloves on.

If I had to do it all over again I would go with the SENA tufftalk headphones. They are over ear and noise canceling. Also take a look at my thread on how to modify your helmet unit to work in an inexpensive noise cancelling earmuff. All you would need is to purchase another base (& earmuff of course), that way you could move the main unit easily between your helmet and muffs:

Last but not least have you checked out the new SENA smartphone app called "RideConnected"? It's pretty sweet - gives you a "face" of who you want to intercom to, who is intercoming you and also breaks the limited BT distance limit & allows a MUCH larger group of riders to talk to each other. It is unlimited range (as long as you have cell service).

I just got the 20s dual setup, I am still learning how they work and not be able to get them to pair completly. We were able to use them as bluetooth to phone and intercom system. In the mountain trails we lose signal from car to cat after about 50 yards or so. Person to person in side by side is amazing. You can carrier a great conversation with them
