The GMZ and Pro Armor tires are too heavy and will rob hp and performance. The new Warlock 30" Skats with an 8 or 9 paddle or the staggered glidder paddle or the STU Blasters will be the best of the bunch.

 

Are he 30" skats actually about 28"?

 

The have the 30" skat, which was actually smaller and now the Warlock 30" skat that is actually a 30" tire with a huge rollout. Super light.

 

Do you suggest the true 30" over the smaller skat for a bone stock XPT? Would I need to change clutching?

 

I would go with the Warlocks as they are very light or the STU Blasters. Which ever you prefer for your riding style.

Don't know on the clutching as nobody has the turbo and thrown paddle tires on it. I would suspect you won't have to do any clutch work.

Ya I'm leaning towards the skats just waiting for some feedback from some XPT owners.

 

Going to have to wait a bit for feedback. Most people don't have the Turbo yet and even fewer in states where its dune weather. Probably wont get any good feedback until November.

 

I think you will start seeing feedback by October. Once it cools down here in So. Cal people will start heading to Glamis.

Really, the feedback will be about the same as it is on the n/a XP.

 

Halloween is the first big weekend, I figured after that

 

um, you will start seing feedback in the next week or two as units have been deiliverd and a ton are expected end of month.

I ordered the 30" GMZ Sand Strippers. First trip is Labor day. I wanted to go with a molded tire and I'm not a fan of Skat and can't afford STU. The new Pro Armor tire looked good at Dunefest. I have a pic of it on their XP1K but I don't know how to upload.

 

Nevermind, I thought images had to be from a hosted site. This is Pro-Armor's 30". Looks different than what they show on the Polaris website. I don't think it's on Pro-Armor's site yet.

 

Hadn't seen Pro Armor's paddles yet...Molded 16 paddle with ribbed fronts, priced low. See a combination that sells well and make it cheaper. Bet they will sell a bunch through Polaris.

 

They said their goal was $1300-1400 with wheels.

 

You can get STUs for close to that.

Don't think STU makes a 30" tire or a 15" rim... Not that I have seen.

 

I'm sorry, I meant 14". The Pro-Armor's are 30x14x14. I believe They're going to make a 28" too but I'm sure it will be less money. I'm not going with either one but to be fair you'd have to compare prices of the same diameter tire.

 

I would compare proven vrs. unknown for the $$$ personally.

 

Would be nice to see a good comparison now that there's some new players. I'd love to see GMZ vs Skat vs Pro-Armor vs STU, all on the same machines (1K and turbo prefferably) same sand, same day, all at recommended pressures.

 

I'll have a stock turbo, a stock 900XP, a stock XP1K, a stock Maverick 4 seater, and a stock Maverick turbo at the oregon dunes on labor day weekend. Just saying.

 

What size wheel for 30" skats on XPT or XP1K? And how many paddles?

 

I tore a paddle off on the first ride on a new skat and was told tough luck. Which I think is bs. And I had a friend with skats on a XP900. I had the Doonz paddles. My paddles at half the price out-performed his in every way. In my opinion they were too tall and narrow. But he went with what skat recommended.

 

This is the new STU that Packard has on Iron Man. I believe its 31" tall. Its way taller than the 28 STU.

 

The padla track are old school rail tires. Back in the vw days.

 

That is going to be a big heavy tire! I would definitely comp cut that tire to shave some weight.

 

"Iron Man" is over 300 hp on the dyno. I think it can handle them

 

We're going with what Dave from Fullerton Sand Tire recommends.

Im not sure what group of people you represent and Im glad to hear Dave from Fullerton has not let you all down thats really good news. As Im looking forward to see Fullerton bring the new Skat 30x13x14 models to the sand show so we all can compare them to the rest of the sand tires out there. I hope to see Fullerton offer up some great deals on those Skats at the show if they are as sweet as they look like they are. hopefully they bring out a bunch of them cause were looking for some deals before the season kicks off , Thanks Guys.
