The other possibility is incorrect beadlock ring installation.

 

beadlocks don't cause pinch flats. The guys with beadlocks were running too low of pressure.

 

No, they were running 16 psi or so. I thought the whole idea of bead locks was to run low pressure?

 

Well your friends either weren't running 16 PSI or they weren't properly installed. Some people get pinch flats down near 10 psi but running over 14 should prevent any pinches

 

Thanks for the info. The lowest pressure was 16 psi. I saw it with my own two eyes and own accurate tire gauge. These guys are also very experienced drivers and mechanics. Both cars didn't have the same tires. The one that experienced 3 flats was running Mongrels. (Don't remember what the other was running.) I'm not looking to point fingers and I'm not going to argue about the tire pressure. I simply wanted to know if anyone else has had the problem. If so, what did you do to fix the problem?

 

Put more air in the tires and don't center punch big rocks

 

The owners manual to my DE with 15 inch bead locks say 24 in the rear and 16 in the front. I have had a lot of problems with tires not running the right amount of pressure. With the correct pressure I have not had any problems .

 

STI hd beadlocks 4-3 offset. 30" Mongrels at 18 to 19 psi front and back. 550 miles in Baja on the 250 and 1000 course and stoddard wells for about 50 miles. No problems.

 

Did you need to modify fenders to fit the 30" mongrels? I am running stock tires and have split the centers twice now with under 300 miles on them. Un-patchable even using my arb plug kit still leaks
I don't want smaller size tires and Im trying to figure out what to buy

TheSTIHd beadlocks have the 4-3 offset with the 30" Mongrels no rubbing.

 

I don't know, the Maxis Bighorns have wide open spacing between the tread that I have sliced open a few times now on trails and rocks, riding carefully but somewhat fast.
And aired up!

 

I also have the 30" mongrels an MSA beadlocks. Just got two flats and am going to swap them out for 31" BGF Mud Terrains. They were great at first then not so much... I put several hundred miles on them in baja and ridgecrest, then went to barstow and blew them left and right.
