I was wondering if anyone is running an s&b particle separator on their pro r. I seen a YouTube video of a guy that was having issues with his separator on his pro xp. The design is the same under the rear wheel well. My filter gets really dirty on group rides in the arizona desert and lots of sand from glamis. Anyone having good or bad luck with particle separator?

@Imationdawg I hope your okay with me joining in on your thread questions! This is interesting as I was considering getting one of these for my unit as well....I put a lot of miles on my RZR strictly gravel roads and farm fields and my filters get clogged up extremely fast. Its also very dry and dusty in MT. As for the noise @megadesertdiesel is it louder than the engine idling? I have 0 experience with this was just looking at an option of not having to blow my filters out every day (which doesn't happen) and replacing about 3 filters per year ($60/piece). My biggest concern is whether they are actually as effective as they claim. I am looking at a cage mount (above the roof) setup for mine as I have rear windshield on my unit.

There are a bunch of threads on this, just search Pro XP (the Pro R is the same and fit both). For the original under the fender model a lot of people had issues with the seal when installing the unit and others had issues with the stock airbox seal leaking. Some were not happy with the separation efficiency. Others (including myself) had issues with larger debris making it through to the scavenge fan and shredding it.

They are releasing a version 2 that is supposed to address both these issues. The unit comes preassembled so it is sealed from the factory as well as a redesigned intake opening that is somewhat screened so the larger debris doesn't get through. For me personally the separation of dust was excellent, I ride in UT and AZ and I barely even have a light dust layer in the airbox housing and the filter in near pristine each ride but I have had to replace the fan twice, on this last fan warranty claim I was told about the V2 and it is a free upgrade to anyone that owns a V1, you just have to ship the old unit back in the new unit box.

I will say their customer service is excellent. I never had an issue they didn't address. I will say though at $500 and 2 hour install it is a big initial investment when you could almost buy 10 filters for that. For me it was worth it because I was one where my air box was good and the separation is excellent. A little bummed that I have had to replace fans but they covered the cost and they were at my door before the next ride so I didn't lose out other than the 12 minute install.

So I see that everyone so far no one has experience with the pro r model. The pro r fender mount is nothing like the pro xp or the pro turbo that was problematic. The intake has a screen over it to keep large material out unlike the pro xp which was open and let all size materials in. As soon as I get it mounted and a couple desert rides we’ll see what the filter looks like compared to my old role bar mount on my turbo s.

I agree, not a lot of factual info on the pro r. That would be great if you could keep us posted on your experience. I want to mount mine up higher on the bar but I don’t have room because I’m running aftermarket cage with chase bar, and drt trunk and plans to mount 6.5 or 8” horn speakers. I didn’t want to mount under the rear wheel well because it will block where I have my rock lights mounted :sneaky:

I have the fender mount S&B for my Pro R. It's not the same as the Pro Xp model. Nice quailty and sealed from factory. The fan speed varies with rpm. At idle you can not hear it unless standing directly beside it.
No real world results with it yet. Without S&B, one full day at Ocotillo and the oem filter was super dirty. Rzr is currently at shop to get tuned and and they will see test to see if it will rob any horsepower.

I just installed one on my Pro R-4 and it fit perfect. Stock box had two bolts to the roll bar, S&B used one stock bolt location
and had two more clamps around the roll bar in the back. Super happy with the installation. When you turn it on it a low speed
and I couldn't hear it. When you turn on the engine it goes to high. Standing right next to it seems pretty quiet and I had to put my hand
at the exhaust port to make sure it was in high mode. For me the noise is nothing.

I have one on my Pro XP 4 - under fender one - never had a single issues - at 2,000 miles, I have put in a new filter - but the one has been cleaned and is a good spare.

That being said - for my Pro R 2 seater - don't see a place where I would want it, so will just replace filters as needed. On my 2nd filter (first one died when I rolled onto roof at dunes and air box filled up with oil) - trips to Ocotillo, dunes and Sand Hollow and clean out required after Ocotillo and Sand Hollow, but otherwise looks good.

I have the under fender S&B Filter on my Pro R. Absolutely love it. The filter stays extremely clean after 1,200 miles, just a puff of dust when I tapped the filter on the tire. No noise to be heard at idle, and do not hear anything from it at speed. No vision blocked. Life is good. I ride in the California and Arizona desert where it is very dusty. I have had S&B Filters on my X3's, and hear way too much noise from them. This under fender mount is awesome.

You won't be sorry. Agreed $499 is a lot for filter but just did a weekend ride where each day was 100 miles with 17 rigs. Super dusty and
eating that much dust you really should clean the filter daily but I'm too lazy and with the S&B its always clean. I also run a S&B helmet filter
and have to say that is very noisy. I went to the S&B factory/store and very professional place, not your high school engineers banging out
questionable products.

I run both S&B intake particle separator and helmet pumper. On my Turbo S was running Gen 1 intake separator that ran full speed at ignition on. The newer intake separator fan speeds are based on engine RPM. On my Turbo S it was located just below the rear horizontal bar and the helmet pumper above it to clear the spare tire carrier. Gen 1 separators are LOUD with headsets and not too bad with helmets. Once I switched to the GEN 2 in the same mounting position the fan speeds even at full tilt boogie could not be heard. Running the fender mount on a 23 Pro R. All testaments to their value are 100% legit.

I'm coming off a stock 2018 turbos S 2 seat. Putting on the S&B particle filter under fender Didn't add any noise. When I first got it I was in the garage and I had to get out of
the car and stand next to it and then I barely heard it. For me the noise level is just barely more than my last car. Now I do have a S&B helmet filter that is loud. If I have to wait
for someone I shut it off Just my view on it and the last ride I was on was 140 miles and never heard the motor filter. Now the helmet filter you definitely know its on

I can't say for sure, but mine doesn't seem to restrict airflow at all... maybe the fans even bring in MORE air for all I can tell. My stock ProR feels the same as it did before. But what's shocking, is after a couple rides over a week or two, I opened up my air filter compartment, and the new S&B filter i put in at the time i wired up my separator, looks 100% identical to the day i put it in. Worth the investment EITHER WAY I would say.

I have the fender mount S&B for my Pro R4. Have had it on with stock tune, Whalen's 91 tune, and now with Bikeman stage 3 kit. I have not noticed any lack of airflow, although I have no hard data to back up that statement. Since the S&B was intalled my filter is always really clean, so IMO it's worth it.
