Amsoil users what oils?

Alright I will start with saying I DO NOT want a debate. Polaris fan boys and warranty worries check yourself at the door, this isn't for you. I have given it much debate and this is the route I am taking.

I called a dealer I know well and he has the engine oil in stock. My question is can a full blown amsoil user give me a full list of oils. Eng, front diff, rear diff, trans. I searched both google and the forum and can't find what I am looking for. He said he can get all the info for me if I bring my book. I like to double check my info.

Once again not being rude but I am looking for what I asked for only no need for debates. If you want to convince me to use something different I will gladly give you a shipping address and you can provide me with the oil and filter of your choice.

Thanks guys. :pint:

I wonder if this information has been checked direct with Amsoil? This is what I have gone with since 2008 as it came from Amsoil.

I'm also a dealer for close to 40 years and I'm still learning as Amsoil keeps adding different blends of products. Looks like you have auto trans fluid for the front diff.. That is the only gear box that is very particular to what oil. The rest is very straight forward. So what is the reason for the ATL in the front diff? Not trying to pick a fight, seeking knowledge. Seems some have even used gear lube in the front, not the best option I think.

I think I like the newer motorcycle bends over the 0w-40 that I have used. Like the fact they are 20w-50 and closer to the Polaris oil ratings. Also like the anti-corrosion factor those oils have for the setting/down times.

And in the 800 you use the same product in the transmission and the transfer case. i.e. Chaincase & Gear Oil. Nice for Amsoil to come out with the correct product. Have to wonder if there would be fewer transmission problems with the Amsoil product as bearing problems seem to be common.

FYI. There has been lots of changes since I changed out the 08'. In the 08' 75w-90 gear lube as the recommendation in the transmission and transfer case. Now it is the Chaincase & Gear oil product. Keeping up with all the changes is not always easy even for dealers, i.e. the Chaincase lube product is not easy to find on the Amsoil website. The latest recommendation is posted in this thread.

Thanks Z15 for the heads up and help. Have printed out the Amsoil product sheets to add to my maintenance records.

And the Wix filter: longer one is 51357. Shorter is 51358.
Pardon my ignorance, but getting ready to do my first change.

Why are there 2 sizes for the oil filter listed?

Also, it looks like the Polaris engine oil is 5W-50. Any comment addressing the other poster about using a 20W-50 MC oil instead of the above mentioned 0W-40? It is hot where I live and I am usually running the 20W-50 in my ATVs.

Thanks.

I realize that this is the XP forum, but wanted to add some info from the Wix website for oil filters for any lowly 800 owners.

XP 900 = Polaris 2520799 = Wix 51358 {51357 is longer}
800 = Polaris 2540086 = Wix 51356

The 357 and the 356 have the same dimensions, but the 356 has a higher Burst Pressure. Does this matter? I have no idea.

Amsoil does not have a direct replacement in the Amsoil brand. Wix is the way to go.
I disagree

Wix 51358 AMSOIL EAOM103 (Polaris 2520799,3074963,3084953) Shorter filter required in some app's due to clearance issues, 400, 500 cc engine.
Wix 51357 AMSOIL EA15K13 (Polaris 2540006,25400860
Wix 51356 AMSOIL EA15K13
Wix 51365 AMSOIL EA15K12 (Polaris 3070131 Yanmar Diesel Engine)

Mike;

The EAOM103 and the Ea15k13 oil filter are very similar. We recommend the EAOM103 as it is more geared towards powersports but the Ea15K13 could certainly be used in this application with no issue.

I would feel much better if Amsoil would list those filters in there application list. With previous experience, if a filter is not listed in the application then I go with the one that is. The other thing is Amsoil gives no spec's on there filters so it makes it hard to know how well it fits the application. Give me the by-pass pressures etc..

Mike give the filters a go and let us know what you think. Would like to run the better Amsoil filter myself.

the data sheet on their website gives the kinematic viscosities at different temps. Not a standard 10w-30 type number but it gives you an idea

#35 ·
It is a custom designed lube for a custom use. Viscosity does not have the same meaning as it would for an engine oil application. I have installed it and really like it. Amsoil has a very long and solid track record with all the line of lubes. This is another great product that will outperform any other lube for the intended application. Not sure why you are so concerned about viscosity.

I was asking just because I was wondering why amsoil wouldnt list the viscosity type just like polaris. Polaris not doing it seems like a sale tactic so not sure why amsoil doesnt either. I am considering the amsoil or a Shaeffer oil product but on the fence. Never tried amsoil yet but interested. I use Shaeffer products in a lot of stuff but it can be costly with shipping.
