shopping for a harness and was wonder if the crotch strap actually does anything, not much difference in price so what is the upside of the crotch strap. Also from what I read everyone recommends the Crow brand harness. Is ther a specific model that I should be looking for? I do not want to drill any holes on the RZR, what is the best belt without make any permanent mods to the RZR? thanks in advance!

The Crotch Strap actually prevents the person from slipping forward and under the lap belt during a crash. It also keeps the lap belt properly positioned over the pelvic bone instead of the abdomen as the pelvic bone can withstand far greater forces than the abdomen can.

For a full breakdown on how and why as well as the differences in 4 vs 5 read the following article HERE.

You really get what you pay for when it comes to harnesses. I found the crows to have the highest quality belt material that is very pliable and doesn't take a set if left in the same position for a long time. Others I've tried over the years get difficult to adjust after a short time of use and just seem cheap compared to the crows.

I would recommend getting the Crow 5-points and once you install them decide whether you want the anti-submarine, "crotch", belt. I went with the Crow 4 points and sometimes if you don't cinch down the lap belt tight enough before tightening the shoulder harnesses, the lap belt will ride up making it a little uncomfortable.

The new harnesses will bolt to the existing mounting points for the lap portion and the shoulder straps wrap around the roll bar behind your seat. This installation will not require any permanent mods to your RZR. For more info on mounting, do a search for "harness install" or "harness mount" and others have done it this way and other ways and documented their install, including pics, that make it very easy to do yourself.

RJS and DJ Safety are two that I personally tried and didn't like. I learned quickly that when looking at safety equipment, price should not be too much of a factor. I have not tried Simpson, but a buddy of mine has them in his Crawler and they seem pretty nice. I have never heard any complaints from him about them.

I have 4pt harness, they are fine for an average rider and are superior to the stock belt. 5pt is nice but you can do without it...if you want the ultimate in safety get a 5pt...if you want something better than the stock restraint system and are a average rider, get a 4pt. jmo...

I'll second what has already been said about skimping on safety items. When it comes to seat belts, there are some well known quality mfgrs out there and then there is the e-bay unknown/unheard of brand(s). The stock seat belt is at least DOT certified to perform like the seat belts in your car. That "no name" 4/5 point is anyones guess as to whether or not it will actually work and not fail when you need it most.

Many of the "no name" seat belts lack a SFI rating and or date of mfgr labels. For those who have DFR's seat belts, does your seat belt have a SFI or date of mfgr label on it? It's no secret that DFR doesn't actually make a lot of the stuff they sell and I have yet to find out who actually mfgrs the DFR branded seat belts and if they met any type of safety specs.

e-Wa, yes it can, The attachment to the buckle fits between the two shoulder clips. No one mentioned it yet, but the 5th belt can attach to the frame bar under the seat. A little hassle to adjust but once you have it correct, the only hassle is keeping it up around your "you know whats" while you connect up,

dragon fire racing has a great 4 point with 3" belts. had a major mishap on my rzr-s and walked away with out any injury. we have 2" crows on our other rzr-s but were switching them out for the dragonfires. besides the comfort of the dragonfire belt there is one major difference from all the other belts. that is dragonfires have a sternum buckle to wich makes sure the belts dont slide off your shoulder and there belts also do not come loose as do are crow belts. good luck with whatever you buy. just remember harnesses take a bit of getting used to. not as easy as stock lap belts.
