35" tires

Just wondering how many if any are running 35s on a rs1? I'm contemplating getting a set of 35" roxxzillas to replace my worn 32" roxxzillas. I c the guys with turbo s cars run them often without issues on mostly stock cars. And figured since the rs1 has the same drivetrain and far less weight it will hold up. Any input would b great. And also I will not b running a lift kit. 32s fit with zero issues so I don't think 35s would have a fitment issue either.

I have seen guys running 35 roxxzillas on an RS1 with 4/3 offset wheels for rock crawling and have been fine. I'm not sure how they'd handle in other environments. And, I haven't asked them if they rubbed. AND...they had a gear reduction to handle the larger, heavier setup.

I run 35 Roxxzilas on my XPT and IMO they are one of the best tires currently available. They are unmatched when in the rocks. However, they require a lot of other parts to be upgraded if you want them to survive. First is gear reduction via trans or portals, this is NOT optional. Second is steering, with a flat profile combined with a sticky the steering effort is greatly increased. I use a OEM rack with a SCR steering stabilizer. HD tie-rods with FK hiems connected to Keller ball joints. To help with the steering effort I run a 750W Saturn Vue power steering unit. Can't say on the RS1 but they will rub on a XPT without forward A-arms. I use Z-Broz 1.5" forward A-arms. I also use 5/2 rims with 1.5" wheel spacers. I also use limits straps on all four corners to relieve some stress on the shocks. SCM HD trailing arms and NPR or SCM radius rods (I have both and swap them out for service) I've developed this setup over the last two years and it flat out works.

They are awesome tires but they are not a bolt on an go kinda thing. Also maintenance intervals is greatly increased.

I'm running rhino 2.0s in front and rhino x300s in rear, 13% reduction in all 3 ranges, assult steering upgrades with fk heims, atv fourplay upper and lower a arms, upgraded drive shaft, atv fourplay trailing arms and radius rods, Keller ball joints, fox rc2.5 shocks set at 15.5" ground clearance with 32s as well as a turbo. So I think the proper things needed to run a bigger tire are in place.

I have been pretty hard on it with 32" roxxzillas on 5+2 headlocks and even with 200hp on tap it's held up extremely well. I will also say that I will only want to be running this 35" tire setup for certain places I go. I will b keeping my 32" combo for WV and I'm wanting a 33 or 35" combo for Tennessee and Kentucky.

My currently 32" roxxzillas on sti hd5 14" bead locks weigh 57.8lbs on the scale. According to maxxis the 35 is only 6 pounds heavier. I found that very interesting that it gained only 6 pounds. So I would b around 62 pounds with the same wheels with a 35. I find that even more interesting because a bunch of guys run the 32" sti rocktanes and that combo is 10+ pounds heavier than the 35" combo I would b running.

I've seen some guys absolutely thrashing a few turbo s 2 and 4 seaters on these 35s but I just don't know how much they have done to make it work. The one 4 seater I have heard is pretty much stock down to the axles.

I also believe that my rs1 has a faster rack ratio and the higher watt p.s. motor already.

As for rubbing with 32s I have inches to spare in every direction with the 5+2 wheels I've been running. I actually just had all of my springs off my shocks checking full bump clearance for some prototype trailing arms so I am about 99% sure rubbing with 35s wouldn't b a issue. No on a regular 2 or 4 seat I bet they would rub the firewall big time. But with a rs1 u have nothing even close to the tires.

I'm set but I'm not set. As far as mods you need I think I have enough to run them. Was really hoping maybe a few others have ran a 35 on a rs1. Just mainly worried about how the chassis handles that large of a tire. My setup now does not feel top heavy and is stupid predictable. Just really don't want to hurt that. 20-55 is the pace I ride at a bunch and that's my main concern is the shorter chassis of my rs1 won't like a tire that big. I've been blown away with the versatility of the 32" roxxzilla. All of this was sparked when I was talking with the guy I buy tires from. He told me he could get me into 35s for the same prices as the 32s I'm running now. I have a little time to simmer on this. Hoping maybe I can talk with more that have ran this tire in a 35.

Yep that’s me ?. That’s my dedicated rock crawling rig. In running 27 % in the trans and 30% in the portals . It works great for what I do . If I get in real big rocks or in a situation that requires crawling I drop it in low, just regular trail riding I run in high. I run heavy duty everything and have the front tie rods set up on a double shear set up.

I thought that thing looked huge in the pics I found. Portals and 35s probably wouldnt squeez through my enclosed trailer door opening. The more I'm thinking about this the more I'm wondering if I just go up to a 33. 33s and 35s both have limited options I'm finding out. The 33s would either b the coyote 33x10x15 or a 33" bfg that I would choose. I have a extra set of method bronze 405 bead locks I could use if I went the 33" on 15 direction. I would still b in the 63 pound range on 33s since these methods are almost 20lbs compared to my sti wheels at 15 pounds. Lots to think about here with many possibilities. Rzrjoe and jacksonjack thank you for your valuable inputs. I wish someone close had a wheel and tire I could mount on my rs1 to c how and if it would clear everything.

When you say 2 wks, what kind of time frame. I start vaca on the 2nd.

As you know db i was running 33’s on the rs before switching to roxx in a 32. The rims are off set but cant remember how much. At full lock and articulated I was barely rubbing my oversized fender kit in the front on factory a arms.
I am getting ready to do the 33% low reduction as Im a turtle kinda guy, just wish I had more for power steering.

Running 34" Intimidators on beadlocks with 5+2 offset. Stock suspension and drivetrain other than LandWFab high clearance rear radius rods. It would clear 35's easily with no rubbing. Ride mostly mud and no issues.
