I have allot of those Baja Designs HID lights on my rzr. I'm sure they will kill the battery. what do I need to hook up a second battery... besides the battery
thanx

A lot as in how many ? LOL

I would look at upgrading to an odyssey 925L battery to replace the stock one. Take a look at your voltage, see if doing that will solve the problem.

If it wont, id look into a battery isolator and wiring kit. This will be quite a bit more involved and quite a bit more $$.

Some guys simply run a complete separate battery for their lights that is independent of the RZR (easier on the stator). They also make a alternator kit if you really need the juice.

Is there a better battery to just buy? I'm running a 20" light bar, power steering and a ssv radio. Not sure if I should be worried about it, usually only running 2 of the 3 at a time.

I run the odyssey 925 as a second battery with a battery isolator. They are simple to hook up. I run all of my auxiliary equipment off of the second battery that way I can play my stereo /whips while parked without having to worry about starting the rzr.

I bought the odyssey 925 today, I paid top dollar for it at the local stealership ($194) but I needed it for tomorrow... it's Thanksgiving in the desert :headbang:
The battery in the rzr is dead and it's a tiny one for a quad
I ordered the isolator and odyssey mount
thanks!

Hey Guys,
I've been really wanting to get a second battery but not so much for lights and winches, etc, but just so I don't get stranded out in the field. I keep a batteryMINDER on my battery now at all times when garaged but I still don't trust this thing. What does this isolator do and if my main battery crapped out, could I flip over to the second battery or am I swapping cables? I have to assume that the isolator allows the stator to charge both batts?
And when on the battery tender, do I have to hook up both batts or either one?

The isolator separates the two batterys by a solenoid . When the key is on the solonoid engages and both batterys are live and will be charged by the stator. You dont have to move any wires as they are both wired in. To charge both batterys with a tender you would have to charge them seperatly or use some sort of splitter.

Copy that Bruce. So if my main batt goes tits up, the isolator will automatically grab voltage from the secondary as long as the key is ON? And that battery mount looks upside down for sticking it in the existing tray.

Not quite. The way folks use the isolator is to use the primary battery just for starts, and the secondary for accessories so that the primary never does go tits up in the field. The stator, through the isolator, charges both (one at a time) while you are running.

I think I'm just going to mount the 2nd battery in the hole and leave it. I'll make up a pair of jumper cables to reach the 2nd battery to hook up if needed. Keep it charged with a battery tender.
As far as extras I will have none, maybe a winch someday?

Whoa! Are you guys saying that I should replace the OEM battery with the 925L(reverse polarity) and also purchase a 925 (standard polarity) for the 2nd battery? In addition to the isolator and bracket? Getting costly but so is getting stuck in the desert I guess!
This is the best possible solution correct? Can I wait to replace the OEM battery until it starts misbehaving? I just ordered a winch so I need to make provisions for power.....

Dont break the bank here guys....

I have led lights. Heated seats. Ssv works stereo. Winch. Etc.

Still running the facotry battery. Have never had a blinking battery light and i keep it on a tender when not in use.

No issues. The stock xp batteries are much better than the 800 batteries.

Unless you plan on parking and runnig a 1500watt stereo for an hour your stock battery should be fine.

Atleast run it until it dies. No need in trashing a perfectly good battery.

When my stock one goes ill get an odyssey. But not spending that $ until that time comes
