Got this email today from Polaris - clicked on link and ran my VIN (mine came in 8/14/20) - and I am in the impacted group - bummer - keep the rides close to home until they have a fix! You can click on the safety recall and run your VIN and see if you are a winner.

Dear Polaris Owner,

Our records indicate that you are the owner of a Polaris Off-Road Vehicle affected by Safety Recall Z‑20‑07, which was announced on October 7, 2020.

Polaris has determined that some 2020-2021 RZR vehicles may have an increased risk of primary (drive) clutch failure. Certain primary clutch failures can cause debris and/or clutch components to be ejected from the clutch housing, posing a potential injury hazard to consumers. This condition typically occurs under high- load, low speed conditions (high boost vehicle launch, high RPM belt slip, launching with simultaneous brake and throttle application).

Polaris is currently evaluating a comprehensive inspection procedure and repair for this concern. At the time of availability, Polaris will re-issue this communication with repair information and additional parts, if required.

DO NOT OPERATE YOUR VEHICLE.

Visit our Off‑Road Safety Recall page to verify if your vehicle is impacted by the recall. Please contact your dealer to complete a transfer of ownership if you no longer own the vehicle. Your local dealer can be found on our Dealer Locator page.

Due to many state and federal guidelines implemented due to COVID-19, some dealers have made changes to hours of operation or may even be closed. Please visit the Polaris Coronavirus Response page to help answer questions regarding these concerns. Polaris will continue to focus on the health and safety of our customers, dealer personnel, and all Polaris employees. We will continue to respond as the situation evolves. Continue to monitor this page for the latest updates.

While your dealer is in the best position to answer your questions, you can also contact our Polaris Owner Connections Department by calling 1-800-POLARIS (1-800-765-2747) to speak with a representative.

Sincerely,

Polaris Service

Got a new ranger broke down, seal came Out of front diff,,4 weeks before dealer could get to it... so went yesterday and bought a xp turbo razr.. 1.8 hours and now this recall... supposed to go to west va this weekend .. no refundable money for cabin ..Wished I would have ran from another Polaris.. possible to return razr ? Man what bad luck or what junk machines.. my first experience with Polaris.. 45,000 bucks within 3 months and can’t use either one 😂
just run it. Don’tdo the things they mention in the recall, but there have been 2020 pro XP’s in use for a year.

Just got the notice myself . Bought a new xp turbo last Saturday and put 80 miles on it last Sunday and every time I would come to a stop there was a loud bang from the the clutch area like the secondary was finally completely back shifted 😳
This same thing happened to me yesterday. Mine has 4/10s of a mile on it and basically shit the bed lol. Took the belt off today and backed it out of the garage and I couldn't get it out of reverse without turning it off to shift gears.

I have about 200 miles +/- on mine and have had no issues to date (delivered 8/15/20) two rides each about 100 miles. No shifting issues, a little hard to move between gears at times, but when you "unload" it, shifts fine. Mine is at dealer now getting some original build parts that came in, installed and serviced - so hopefully they can do quick inspection and see if they see any issues before I pick up this weekend. May just leave it there if they can fix soon.

But given this came out today and they are still evaluating the problem - likley not a quick fix, then you have to wait for parts and spot at dealer. Real bummer for those not close to dealer or without good relationship with one.

Sounds like a dealer backlog/customer support issue with your Ranger, not Polaris. I feel for you, I do, but I've put thousands of rough, hard miles on my Polaris side by sides, and have a dozen friends who have as well, and we've never lost ride days (stop ride/sell excluded). Polaris is notifying us of a problem they've found, and are fixing it. That's the route I'd like them to take instead of ignoring it and having a "never having heard of that problem before" approach.

Installing an Aftermarket Assassins Primary kit today! Not waiting around for a fix. 1,200 miles no issue, but if liability falls on consumer now if driven I’d rather spend 400-500$ than roll the dice. It’s my understanding that if it explodes now it is also NOT covered by warranty. So Polaris has wiped their hands of it. Maybe you will see a fix in a few months but don’t hold your breath. Mean time your machine sits for months. Dealer has no answers, I also called Polaris and was told I would have to talk to a specialist which was not available. We will see if I get a call back today. Another side note... if your forced to sideline your machine is Polaris going to extend the warranty??

Installing an Aftermarket Assassins Primary kit today!
Installed AA S3 clutch kit and secondary Helix. Shimmed primary eliminating belt overtravel and shimmed secondary correctly for easy shift. Installed EVO "Worlds Best Belt" Did this with approx. 20 miles on machine. Have 900ish miles now and blew clutch out couple days age. Clutch sheaves still look new. Way happy with upgraded clutch.

Had to relieve body plastic a bit with die grinder to make rubber around shifter not wad up when shifting.

Shortly after installing my clutch kit and getting weights adjusted per instructions, I was hearing a chirp. I thought it was belt but inspecting clutch sheaves. I had no hot spots, Called Mike and he told me he thought it had to be the BOV. Replaced BOV and noise gone.

I have run a lot of deep sand and tough big rock trails. Best performing RZR clutch I have owned. Hope mine not affected. Will learn today.

Suggest all parts mentioned because all parts together dang sure worked. Learned from Mike he sells the same belt I bought elsewhere.
Also, with clutch cover off and a 4' extension to operate foot feet, you can watch clutches operate revving engine in park. I could see primary belt overtravel before correcting. Could see secondary and know how many washers I needed to add to be correct and make shifting way easy.

What a joke my RZR experience has been, I was spoonfed Polaris quality my entire life with a dozen snowmobiles that were flawless for me, 8 IQR's, then I buy my first UTV a new 2016 RZR turbo XP, aside from the no use recall for the entire first summer I had it for a simple oil drain back tube, Polaris installed they're Fix-It kit for the primary clutch and it exploded 14 miles later, do I even mentioned the tender springs or the excessive amount of camber on driver's front that they gifted me a spindle and it corrected nothing, their response was it's an off-road vehicle it's going to be what it's going to be right from new, I got gun-shy of using it and just continued dirt biking instead using the razor with a mini trailer around my property until I lost my ass selling it for a new pro XP, now a week later they're telling me not to use it because the clutch is going to explode potentially, what a joke I should have listened to my neighbor with an x3 months ago telling me to burn my Polaris banner in the garage I'm selling my 80k+ stock in the company and canceling my new snowmobile orders, they can buy this piece of s*** back from me, there's no way I'm going through this again...

Polaris dealer really close to me. Been loyal to Polaris a while. Mostly because of I really like dealership near me. Like visibility on my machine. My rear tender springs are shot. Other than that, really like my machine.

The X3 RR has an an amazing clutch!!! RR runs strong. Nice machine for sure.

Dealer is sending me his personal unit for my trip ,, 2-1/2 hour one way drive Between us .. they are gonna take The new ranger back and fix front differential (92 hours). As far as razr he said their is no fix available as of yet so I guess I have to wait on razr repairs(1.8 hours) jerry at sport cycles in Rockingham Nc is the man and has done more for me than Polaris would ever dream of doing ... It’s a shame he is not a can am dealer.. Polaris doesn’t seem to be as quality as they used to have the reputation for

What gave you that impression? I have not seen anything about a casting issue? More details would be appreciated.
Well just thinking here... But a kit gives you weights and spring.... So unless the factory weights are coming apart what is gonna make that more durable? Still using the factory pins

Secondly I see numerous aftermarket companies making outer clutch covers..(example..AA has one) that state they are way stronger than factory and keep the clutch more ridgid

I have more belt tension with AA clutch kit. Belt does not slip. Can feel it. She bites immediately when applying gas. Clutch engagement 100 RPM higher than stock. Sheave inspection on primary and secondary clutches to my old eyes shows zero signs of belt slip.

Durability/Longevity- AA S3 clutch kit install. Increased belt tension. Longer belt life for sure.

Have call into dealer. Waiting on return call. Was told Service Manager busy this morning.
