Not sure what could be made better to the already good performing system. 95% of all my riding is in 2wd. I like the feel of power sliding around fast turns and fishtailing and spinning doughnuts etc. 4wd when crawling through rough terrain like rocks and mud. Not sure if i would ever like to be in 4wd and it activate at high speeds. The guys in the sand might be a different story, never drove in sand here in the deep south of alabama.

Hmm that youtube video was interesting with the white 570 atv on the old style awd setup. Look like it enaged very fast to me.
Definitely not seeing a compelling reason to spend the extra $2k to go from the base 50" 900 up to the EPS.

I'm seriously contemplating a move out of my XP4 900 now that my kids are riding on their own and I've moved from desert riding territory to trail territory.

I was told by my dealer on the 900S eps only difference is automotive style paint and the eps. The white lightning S base model has decals not paint. But I just put a deposit on a 900S WL and now I'm confused about awd differences if any? I do all muddy and Rocky trails almost always in AWD so it's important to me! So confused now!

Headlights, seat slider, Paint, EBS Power steering. Single color seats, no digital display option. And a possible 4wd setup. That's the difference on the 900S models from the White to the Color ones.

I got 850+ miles on my White "S" and don't miss any of the options except one. I did order the EBS clutch setup.

Top speed I have seen, 72MPH. Raced a XP1k with 32" tires and stayed on his bumper to 50 and ran out of road in Taylor Park

Has anyone figured out the AWD difference if there is any. Come on Frank. Help us out here.
It sounds like it's explained over on the Polaris ATV forum.
Xp 1000 close ratio transmission - Polaris ATV Forum
Thanks for that link! I initially thought the one poster was smoking something funny but then checked my 570 manual for ratios. Actually makes sense, and makes the AWD system disengage when not needed. Rear drive ratio is 3.70:1 and front is 3.818:1; this would automatically disengage the front Hilyard clutches anytime the front wheels were turning at the same rotational speed as the rear.

in the owner manual on page 133
you can see 2 different gear ratio for EPS and non EPS.

on Polaris website in part manual you get 2 different P/N for
the front gear case.
