I've just got to ask....Did someone with the FS call one of You guys to ask about the rally coming up and what would be going on there ?
FF, they have been watching forums since before this one ever started. We had a spy in an office in Oklahoma City watching the Arkansas Trail Blazers section at ATV Nation a few years back. We caught it because some of us were moderators and we checked IP addresses every now and then. You don't have to talk to them because they have their ways just like anyone that wants info.

Just downloaded and looked over the MVUM for the Boston Mtn district.... there are NO 50" trails ( Buckhorn and Mill Creek)
Mt. Magazine has 50" trails listed ....
Pleasant Hill , there are no 50" trails listed
Sylamore , there are no 50" trails listed
We have never been there. I am confused. Are there trails to still ride on? Can you still ride out of Mack's Pine?

Thank Ed ! What caught my eye was Thunder Mountain said...."The forestry service has contacted me with concerns about us using non approved trails and not complying with rules and regulations."

Now I am new to this forum but I have been riding these trails for over 25 years. In that time I have spoke with many of the Rangers, Game and Fish and FS workers. They all have told me many times that they could care less about size or number of people and machines as long as someone is not being totally stupid (driving/riding), Drunk or trashing the place. The ones I've spoke with at Magazine and Mill Creek said I could ride anywhere I wanted as long as it was not posted (private or closed). Within reason of course. Was just wandering what all the interest in the rally was. From what I have gathered it is an unofficial gathering of like minded people..

Just curious...........

I found the 2013 MVUM and uploaded it to my website . Look for the file marked Ark MVUM . pdf ....it can be downloaded here : https://sites.google.com/site/thundermountainatv/
Their web site opens the Back Country maps which still show that the road to the Long Pool campground is an ATV Acess road. I called the Russellville office last year and was told ATV Access roads are legal for ATV to be on. Seems they could be in for a battle if someone got stopped and had the map with them.

last year the Camphost at Longpool told me the rangers climbed all over him for bending the rules , allowing atv riders to park outside the "park boundary" . Also said the access to Mocassin Gap from there was not a "ATV "trail . (one of the maps not only said it was an ATV trail but marks it as a trail head)
We need to all be aware of what the NF sneaks into the MVUM , these could seriously impact our riding , especially the 50" rule ... leaves me out .

study up on the MVUM map for Big Piney Ranger District .... IF we have to go by the letter of the law (some day) could drastically change things

download the file "Ar MVUM at the bottom of the page for the map https://sites.google.com/site/thundermountainatv/

Arkyrider when the rangers got through shutting down trails at Wolfpen and the Ouachitas how much was left? 50% less?

The yellow proposed trail's to be closed are the majority on that map.

Again, If the Forest Service wants to provide a printed paper map to the users of the Forest that our tax dollars are paying their salary and retirement, have them get a Ranger in a truck and leave several cases of the "approved" MVUM maps where folks are actually at and provide them with the ability to stay on the trails.

Having the maps at the office in Jasper does no one any good, if they even have any maps. I asked for a map to be mailed to me a month ago. I have yet to receive it.

The last 2 years when we went to Colorado, when we bought our State Permit @ Taylor Park we asked for a current MVUM. They had a case of them behind the counter. We had a legal map and knew we were on a legal trail when we were out in the woods.

Jasper needs to get it together. Send a Ranger on a road trip. We all want to be legal, but with out their help we have no way of knowing if we are where we should not be.

Are they intentionally making it confusing to generate more income?

Call the Russellville office for maps or just down load at the ozark st francis web site.
The Back Country maps would be considered since they are published by them. But you should always go to the web site to see if there are any alerts, notices, prohibitions or emergency closures. It really isn't confusing if you use the back country maps, know the laws that the FS has to follow as well as the laws we have to follow. To ride in the NF we should make it our job to know them, just like knowing the law when you drive down the highway in a car. Just like anything it takes a little time to get it figured out. Of course that is when it will change. lol.

Like I said ... you know the forestry follows this forum so just suck it up and get thru the rally without any bulls hit. They know exactly what we're up to so just take a chill pill and deal with it like adults!!!!!!

Every time you guys make a negative post about this ( so called ) rally that just gives the powers to be more leverage on the little man so take a look back and don't look like a fool that got everyone in a pickle!!!!
