'16 XP 1000 o2 Sensor, replace or delete along with cat?

My used 2016 xp1000 w/ride command has an o2 code (P0030 / 520209) when I bought it but didn't have a clue until after I got her home. It doesn't seem to be in any "limp mode" that others mention so I haven't addressed the issue yet. My research shows here that most just replace the $120 oxygen sensor and move on. But I'm wondering what kills them at such a tender age?

Is it possible that the catalytic converter retains too much heat, thus causing premature wear on the sensor? I've read also that the sensor's connection may be bad but I've checked that and it seems fine. Anyway, I was debating pending further research whether or not to hollow out my cat and while I was at it I had considered getting that Bikeman's Performance 02 delete meant for aftermarket exhaust. I'll be keeping the stock exhaust, and especially keeping the spark arrestor.

I wanted to get some of everyone's thoughts who may have experience with this because after reading multiple threads on the subjects I can't seem to make up my mind which road to travel. Thanks in advance, guys and gals.

185EZ, I've been keeping tabs on your cat delete, so much so that I pm'ed you asking about it but I think your pm box is full as you didn't get back to me. I'll have to read that thread you linked...

Bought from an old man and for all I know he may have run 85 octane but did say he used 91...

I apologize for that. I may have forgot to get back to you and i just deleted 1000 pm's this year.
I have plenty of room, lol.
You have 256 messages stored, of a total 10,050 allowed
Cat delete isn't difficult. Main thing is to have a welder or mark where you cut and take it to someone

Me? I would try the O2 delete before spending $120
RZR o2 Sensor Blockoff Kit

If you want to do an ecu flash I believe Aftermarket Assasins has the delete in their tune
I just did the Dynojet tune but it doesn't delete the O2

As far as the cat I would delete that on any ride i had.
I think intoxicated had a meltdown with his muffler
I won't actually "tell" someone to do it though if you know what i mean.:big-grin

Yeah, I've studied up on the cat delete so I know how to go about doing it. Thanks, EZ....wink, wink.

So you're with me in trying the o2 delete? I probably won't flash ecm anytime soon as the bikeman has a resistor so it tricks the ecm, yes? So that other thread where guy who did the o2 delete claiming to get worse milage, a fluke on his part you think?

I think I'll call Bikeman tomorrow and pose some queries, that is, unless someone can furnish me with a value resistor to wire into the factory harness. Then I'll just leave the bad o2 sensor in....

ETA: No, I didn't mean for the to read as though I was gonna ask BM to give me values and not buy from them...

I think they upgraded the newer models to a wideband O2.
Mine is the narrow band.
Doesn't do too much in way of changing fuel tables.
It's either rich or lean or stoich
Just heard from Dynojet.
I asked if my tune removed the O2 circuit and it doesn't.

Our tunes are all designed to retain use of the stock oxygen sensors. We cannot suggest ways to disconnect them... Nor would we recommend it.

Ordered o2 sensor from Partzilla. Thanks all...

didn't order from 2wheelpros because their online reference was wrong for the part number and year for my machine...4016021 is the correct part number that supercedes 4013979. I called to inquire and was told it wouldn't work. I told them it will. They went to Polaris website, even called out my machine and proved me right but still referred back to their website being right?

Ordered from Partzilla.

Just a quickie update. I replaced the stock o2 sensor and tried clearing the old code via the Ride Command to no avail, but a minute of letting the RZR idle, the code cleared itself.

While I was at it I removed my exhaust muffler and gave serious consideration to hollowing out the cat but decided for now to just leave it in. Mostly because I had my SuperATV rear bumper to install and didn't want to delay myself. Of course if I change my mind later it'll be more of a pain having to remove the SATV bumper and then reinstalling it all over again. So I'll probably just leave her be.

Also, with the o2 trouble code my RZR didn't go into any sort of limp mode as things felt exactly the same after I replaced the o2 sensor. But at least now I no longer have a pesky code in my system.

At first I thought it was a common occurance, hence my desire to delete it. But now I see it's few and far between so I'm glad I decided to just replace it. It didn't seem to be hurting anything with it being bad, but it's worth it having everything working in proper order.
