1 injector dumping a HUGE amount of fuel

my driverside injector is dumping a tremendous amount of fuel killing that cylinder out. it will start and run on the passenger side cylinder no problem but immediately floods the driverside cylinder and never has a chance to fire.

unplug the injectors, and fuel stops. plug the injectors back in with spark plugs out and turn the motor over only to watch the driverside begin gushing fuel up like a fountain on every compression stroke.

any thoughts? a stuck injector would spray fuel with fuel pressure regardless of command right? and it just started this today when i tried to start it, previously it was fine.

on a side note, does anyone have a part number for injectors that are available at a local parts store? polaris dealer does not carry stock injectors.

Yes if the injector is leaking it will dump fuel when pressurized. Swap injectors to see if the problem goes to the pass side cylinder..if it does it's the injector obviously. Haven't researched the injectors but they are likely Bosch..You might be able to get numbers off them and cross reference them.

Just curious... is there a chance that your fuel pressure is low and since the driverside injector is the furthest from the feed source it is seeing the lowest pressure? I have seen injectors with extremely low pressure not properly atomize fuel and "puddling" can occur which is very hard to combust, and also makes the same volume of fuel that is usually "misted" appear like a much larger amount since it is concentrated to a "puddle or droplet" if you will.

fuel pressure is good, one of the first things i checked along with compression on both cylinders which also tested good.

i pulled the rail and troubleshot the fuel flow with them out of the head. When you turn the key on the bad signal would instantly charge a full stream of fuel for about a second and then stop. Then as you began cranking on the engine the injector just sprayed a wide open steady stream. other injector was cycling just like it should on a typical fuel injection system. I should have taken a video but i didnt, wish i would have now.

The amount of fuel coming out of the bad side was mind blowing. no doubt it was 100% duty cycle with no injection pulse.

i'm stumped, going to call dynojet tomorrow and see what they can do for me. Bought the PC5 in december or january so it is around 6-7 months old.

Hopefully Dynojet has some insight and if it is the PCV it is under warranty. Please let me know what they say...

Did you ever try swapping injectors from side to side? In the original post you said it pulsed a big stream every compression stroke, but then 2 up you say it shoots a steady stream???

good eye nate, the first post was before I pulled the fuel rail from the head and I was describing the fuel blowing out the spark plug hole during the compression stroke. I didn't realize it was a stead stream until after pulling the rail off the head and watching the spray.

and yes, I swapped injectors and the PTO injector wire repeated the problem on both the mag side and pto side.

LOL, was stuck in my head... Does it for me then it must be signal related. Tech line at DJ it is.

good news! dynojet shipped out a replacement today and i will be return shipping mine to them tomorrow. other than waiting on hold forever, they were very helpful!

bad news, pretty sure i have a head gasket problem. Nate, if you see this can you give me a ring? 713-560-7573 i would like to pick your brain for a second on the oil/coolant system on the 900 and why i seem to keep getting water contamination in my oil.

i hope so, this is frustrating but I don't mind going in the engine. I just want to make sure I am eliminating as much as possible before tearing into the top end.

i can't find the weep hole in the water pump cover, going to pull the belly pan to see what I can find. its possible that the water pump seal is out and the weep hole is blocked. that would push water into the oil.
