Hey guys. Ive been wanting a glovebox in my 570 ever since I got the thing. Its just a great thing to have for packing my camera, pistol, snacks, gloves, etc... I havent been able to convince myself to spend $90 or so on a glovebox and I really didnt see any aftermarket solutions I liked for the $$.
So, I wound up coming up with this. Its just a $10 plastic Ammo Can from walmart. Completely water tight, and even has a place for a small padlock to go so that it can be locked shut if needed. I drilled holes to match the brackets for the factory glove box, used two 1/4-20 bolts that were 2.5" long, and also bought four 1 inch spacers and used two on each bolt to space it down so that it doesnt hit the grab handle rod that runs back to the frame, then snugged the bolts down with two nylock nuts. As of right now, it is pretty sturdy and actually will flex the glovebox mounts if i try to move it, but im going to add two more bolts to the other two holes in the factory glovebox mounts just to keep vibration and flex down as much as possible, I just didnt buy enough materials the first time around.
I havent used it yet but I think its going to work great. Still more than enough leg room, and even though it swings open from the side, its still very easy to open and close sitting in the machine. Over all, this whole setup could be had for less than $20, and installed in about 10 minutes. Im anxious to try it out and just thought I would share with you guys.
