Revisiting the Wheel and Tire dilema

Think it's time to blow some money on wheels and tires for my '16 XP1K
Plan on running the same size all around, sticking with a 14" wheel , 30" tire. Would like beadlocks, and weight is a factor. Want to stay between 36-40ish lbs per tire/wheel.

Wheels on the list are either GBC Terramaster, Arisun Aftershock XD, or ITP Ultra Cross R Spec. Don't really care if they are DOT legal or not.

Riding conditions are trail, dirt road, some pavement. Trails range from dirt to dune deep sand. I don't climb or mud.. just high speed ride.

As far as wheels, I am up in the air. Would like to stay under $200 per, would like them bronze with black rings. As close to OEM offset as possible , which seems like 5+2 from most of the manufacturers. Was thinking the Method MR405 or MR406. Not sure on their weights though.
Any recommendations ? Forum sponsors feel free to PM me any recommendations and prices.

Re: Revisiting the Wheel and Tire dilema

I'm coming to the realization that if I want to stay close to the OEM wheel/tire weight beadlocks are out , unless I want to spend $1500 for just wheels alone, I can't swing that.

Why can't I find a light , affordable wheel with a 5+2 backspacing, that looks good ?

My tire choice has changed as well. Either Maxxis Liberty or Carnivore.

Re: Revisiting the Wheel and Tire dilema

For the type of riding you describe I would go with Tusk Terrabites over Carnivores.

Should have added that on the list as well, along with the GMZ Kahuna

Re: Revisiting the Wheel and Tire dilema

Kahunas are a fantastic tire, but it sounds like you want Terrabites.

As for Beadlocks, the Tusk Tetons are a nice looking beadlock wheel that do not weigh too much and priced very well

Re: Revisiting the Wheel and Tire dilema

I will say if you look at STI's, get the HD 9 beadlock and not the HD 5. I snap bolts on my HD 5's beads because they are too small. The HD 9's have larger bolts.

Other than that, I am very happy with my HD 5's. I have one set with Terrabites and one set with ITP Blackwater's.

I went with the Tetons too, with 32x10x14 Terrabites.

Re: Revisiting the Wheel and Tire dilema

After much research, opinions, etc. I decided to go with Method 409 5+2 wheels in grey and 30" Kanati Terramasters.

My goal was to be 50lbs or under per tire, I came close.

Did you look at the rockabilly tires chuck? I think they are awesome looking, but don't know the weight of them

Re: Revisiting the Wheel and Tire dilema

I didn't, not sure why. I just looked them up, 36.5lbs, so a little heavier.
