Good mud tires?

I just posted something on how to remove beadlocks (i feel stupid now.), and just noticed my tires are SHOT. So, I'm in the market for mud tires, as they have to be better than my Terracross tires. I'm looking at Maxxis Mudzilla's or Interco Vampires, around 27"-28", but, will my DFR Stage 2 Clutching pull them? I might buy Gorilla Silverbacks, but, I'm scared of breaking axles/cv's, etc. Input greatly appreciated.

With clutching, you probably won't notice much/any difference going to a 28", let alone a 27"! The right tire depends on how much of a mud tire you want, hardcore good or middle of the road. From there you can really narrow it down. I really like my mudzilla's and consider them to be in the hardcore category, but below backs and laws speaking purely on mud performance. In the good range, I have heard a lot of people loving their swamplites but there are a lot of good mud tires.

Well, I've had bad experience on Swamplites with my former quad. They tore worse than my Terracross tires did, even on terrain that was easier! Of course, donuts on mud tires aren't advised...

...or catching the tires in a pit on the ground while doing donuts...

if ur looking for hard core tires in a 28 count the laws out. as not many people know outlaws were first molded and desighed in the 29.5" size and because of that the 27 and 28" tire sizes ride alot worse that the 29.5's and actually weigh almost exactly the same. as for backs they are extremely agressive and are great in big holes but every day riding..not so much. Mud zillas are great all around but rough riding. my girlfriend has them on the rincon i dont like them.

medium agressive. i always hated regular mudlites untill i bought a set. i have the 30's and love them. gbc makes a tire very similar to the bighorn but a taller tread called the Dirt Tammer a/t. they are very light and mudslinging MFers. and extremely well priced at just over 300 a set for 27's. now i know a tire almost identical in a 28.5 (yes i said 28.5 not 29.5) is made by dominator and u can get them on Superatv.com they are very well priced and ur big verson on the GBC tires basically. i love that tread pattern because they eat like u wouldnt believe but are also amazingly nice on the road.

it all depends on what ur wanting from ur tire. all the tires i have mentioned are 6 ply tires. hope i helped. my 30's are for sale and they have 60 miles on this set if u r interested shoot me a pm. im going to the 28.5's i mentioned earlier
hope i helped

I have ran alot of mud tires, living down here we ride alot of swamps. Mud Lites are good tires, it just depends on what kind of riding you are going to do. The mud lite is an awsome all around tire, doesnt ride rough on trails and doesnt wear down fast if you ride on any payment and will still sling plenty of mud. Alot of people like the mudzilla's, i never did, they prooved good around here but just didnt impress me. Right now i am running silverbacks and i love them, a little rough at slow speeds but not as bad as you would think. We went on a trail ride last weekend and there were a few spots where quite a few people had a time getting through the trail, with the backs i walked all over that place. If its a mud tire you want, go with the backs.

Im running the new Zillas and think they are the best all around tire mud/trail . They ride good plus lighter than Law or Backs and do better in the mud than the Mudlites I was running. Also there alot easier on your pocket than the others I got set of 4 shipped to my door for less the $400.

outlaw mst. by far the best mud/trail I ever had. i sold mine. only because i want 14" rims. seriously considering the superatv dominators. maybe they'll chime in here. not much info on the site. whats the tread depth? also why dont you sell wheels so i can get the 10% discount on an entire kit?

i'm going with the 28.5x10"dominators as long as they'll let me pick them up... i only live like 70 miles from them and i have a yaris as my daily driver.lol...should have them on and running within a month and i'll give an honest review. coming from the outlaw mst it's gonna be a hard row to hoe... i've had mudlites, silverbacks, xtr's, swampers, dads got 27" mud gears on his rincon now. the silverbacks broke a rear axle and front plastic carrier the first real outing. the mst's were awesome but i really wanted 14" rims. i have since got the billet carrier and i have billet hubs on the way since both fronts were broke on mine. i'll be running black 14" 108's with 2" wheel adapters. got a 2 inch custom welded on lift. do NOT go with the backs unless you only plan on being only in mud and you have already upgraded your carrier/hubs/ and probably axels. they are terrible climbers/trail tires compared to everything else i have owned. superatv has impressed me so far. and with them being so close i'll probably spring for axels this fall. the tires should only run me $342 with the forum members discount unless they charge me tax? and i got the rims for 200 cash. already got the adapters... so for 542 i should be hooked up pretty well.. funny tho.. i'm paying 520 for the hubs alone.... thats the way it goes.. my goal this year is to make the rzr bullitt proof. i think i'm getting closer but time will tell.. I just keep reminding myself how fun it is to ride when it is running. anyway sorry for the long post. I will give a report on the dominatoers within the first week of ownership. BTW if your rzr is working, go out and enjoy an hour for me. mine's been down for three weeks and it's killing me.

OUTLAWS all the way. If you are worried about a rough ride just ask how often you ride below 5-10mph on rock hard surface. Not that bad and not enough to make me want to run anything else. I go just about where ever i want. If i get stuck im stuck. my 2 cents. also they are tough as nails.
