Not many people have done a z1 XP.. There Is a few out an about though. I believe Packard Performance has done one. Im still working the kinks out of mine. I did it with the 800 though. Jason Hawk is working on the z1 XP. Im sure he will have It finished in no time. Iv seen a few motors on ebay. I got mine from Jason Hawk..

I just get Z1 turbo from E Bay, only missing was the primary clutch and gauge cluster. I bought those parts from other E bay seller. Now I just installation kit and find some good priced XP in stock condition, hopefully new 1000 will flood the used market with XP 900. : )

I wouldn't get one from craigslist. I got mine from a guy that buys them all the time and parts them out. He bought mine off of craigslist and he took the guys word that it was a running engine. Well long story short , I am sending it back to him on monday so he can rebuild it. It only has 35 psi compression. So he said he will rebuild it for free. Now is not the time to buy one. Winter is when they get wrecked all the time. The guys I have been getting parts from are all out of engines. You can call Lane from Yamaha parts express, he has a 2009 engine with 780 miles on it ready to go. And another one ready to take apart and sell. Very expensive to go that route. ($3450.00 for just a long block , no turbo . exhaust manifold, T/B, and no sensors) here is his #
309 275 9090. I belive he is in New York. I have spent about 5k getting all the parts and sensors for my swap. If I was you I would try to find a wrecked sled. You can take what you need and sell any other good parts on ebay. I did that with a apex sled and made more selling parts then I paid for the sled. Good luck.

Not with you in your statement.

The Z1 will take the abuse more than the xp motor, there is a lot of weak things on the xp motor will not help you to get everything you want.

The most important thing is the reliability, the Z1 is more than the XP.

We buy brand new sleds, and part them out. We have 10 engines in stock and ready for conversions. Depending on what the sled market is doing our prices can fluctuate some, but the prices below are pretty close.

Engine, harness, intake, ecu, etc (all parts needed for our conversion)

New 2013 - $8999
New 2012 - $7999
new 2011 - $7499
New 2010 - $6999

We also buy used sleds if they are in good condition.

Add another $4750 and a weekend in the garage, and you've got yourself a Wasteland Performance 1100 RZ1 which pumps out 240HP on pump gas!

We're thinking of doing a Z1 swap in our Wildcat. I would purchase a used Z1 turbo snowmobile, take what you need off it and part out the rest. See several in the $5k to $7k range and you'll probably get a bunch of that back parting it out on ebay over the winter.

You should be able to grab a used 2009-2010 for under $7,000. If your patient, and part it out you should be able to get 1500-2000 for all the remaining parts. The 2012's came with a newly designed chassis, so those command a much higher price.

If you get a 2012 and go with hawks kit you need to get a few older z1 (09 era) parts like the motor mount bracket and breather box off the top of my head. Small differences over the years with the external parts, also you can get a lot of the parts from Suzuki as they make the motor
