You missed out on a great race this weekend (May 16). There was some dust that was quickly blown off the track, then just a slight drizzle tacked up the track. The last two laps got a little slick, but was awesome. We need the cars to come back, new scoring worked flawlessly.

How was the flow of the track? From video it appears to be more open than it was in the fall. Also, was there an opportunity to test the course pre-race to setup suspensions and such. I plan on making it to the race in June, but don't want a repeat from last fall. Way too tight and rutty. Thx.

yes after tech inspection there was a time period to pre run. the track flowed flawlessly. very fast flow and they fixed the short course jumps

The track was probably better than it's ever been for round 3. There are a lot of people working hard on this series to take it to the next level and it shows. Once people try this type of racing I think they'll be hooked. We just have to get the car count back up where it needs to be.

coop.

you should get Louis to make you a set of his Tree Kickers! I know it is awfully easy to slid the rear end around and catch a tree, stump, or other competitor! I know of two times those kickers saved us last fall! We actually left the oem 29" big horns on for him to do his measurements, and since we race with 27" tires on, it gave us a little more room for error too.

I will try and find a picture of them.

And, as for the track, this last race was by far the best it has been. I am no dirt specialist, but I think a lot of it just has to be with getting "worked in"

I know at windrock, our last race there was by far the best the track we had all year too. It just seemed to get better and better the more we ran on it.

I actually liked the slower speeds the tight-rutted turns created... but I also realize a smoother/wider track is a lot easier on the machines.

here is a couple pics of the 1000 we had with the tree kickers.

By the way, this car was stock with Double E suspension, GBC dirt commanders, Sti wheels, Pro-armor roof, door inserts, & Hanresses, Vision X light bar, Louis's tree kickers, and RT sway bar braces. We had 3 podiums out of our 4 QR1 races... and one of those was an over-all win too.

Yep, the first thing I did was fab some tree kickers! The position of the end of the bar ends about 2 inches in front of the tire, though it doesn't look like it in the pic. May shorten it some anyway. Looking forward to June 13th! My goal is to finish with everything intact, but sometimes the need for speed outruns me!

That car looks great !

Just make sure you keep moving forward. It amazes me how long i end up taking in the pit stops.

And especially After the 3 hour mark. I slow down so much! LoL

Thx! I took it up to Stoney Lonesome yesterday to tune the suspension. Installed 2.5" W.E. with revalving, crossovers and springs from Shock Therapyst. Same thing for the rears. No major issues! Took the jumps like she was bored, and made some nice dust clouds drifting around the turns! It was hard and dry. I'm sure Hawk Pride will be much better prepared. Best thing I did to help control body roll was repositioning the sway bar link mount forward. Tracks really flat right now. In 4wd, a little gas in the turn pulls it out of the oversteer.
Anyway, I feel better about her mechanically, just hope my old frame can last the duration! LOL! Where are you guys located? I'm in Birmingham, Homewood actually. No where to test around here, unless I want a ticket!

We are coming in from NC. We have a little practice track built (2 miles with a bunch of turns!).

To be honest tho, we haven't been on it at all the past two seasons. It was perfect for the 800s, but feels too busy for the bigger cars.

Plus, we seem to brake as much practicing as we do racing. So I got a little tired of having to rush to get them back in shape for the up-coming race. lol

Basically the last two years we have just been going racing with our buggies. I'm out there this weekend making sure everything is tight and ready to load up next Friday. LoL

I'll drive up Sat morning since I'm only 2 hrs away. Ready for the rematch. Tree that took me out last fall is still there!
