yet another attempt at a sticky for the forum. this one is based on the xp1k 16 and newer, 14 & 15 can only do reverse shaft unless changing to a 16 secondary clutch that matches the input shaft. if there are corrections or additions, please PM me and ill get it added or corrected.

OPTION #1: A reverse shaft change of 12% across all 3 ranges- 570 gear set PN’s 3235380 27T and 3235381 46T

OPTION #2: 26% across all 3 ranges- 325 gear set PN’s 3235451 25T and 3235450 48T

OPTION #3: 21% Low range only- this would be swapping to the xpt2 2 piece shaft 3235987 and install ranger low gear set 3235232 67T and the 3236132 25T

OPTION #4: 33% Low range, 12% Reverse and High- same as #3 but add 570 set.

OPTION #5: 33% Low range, 12% Reverse and 8% High- this would take swapping to the xpt4 2 piece shaft 3235988, add the ranger low set, and the ace 570 set

OPTION #6: 47% Low range, 26% Reverse and 26% High- swap to the xpt2 2 piece shaft, add ranger low gear set, and the ace 325 gear set.

OPTION #7: 47% Low reduction, 26% Reverse reduction, 22% High reduction- Start with an 18’ XPT4 input shaft PN 3235988, add the ranger low set 3235232 & 3236132, then add the 325 gear set 3235451 & 3235450.

One thing missing is that in early 2017 Polaris geared down the XP 1K about 12%. So that will change anything you do to the newer models. Some kits may still work. I bought a 24% kit from Super ATV and my Dealer was going to install it so that’s hoe I found out. Turned out it would still work but 12% instead of 24%. I will probably sell the kit because I am OK with it so far running 32’s that coincidently add about 12% higher gearing.

So is the only difference between the early models and the 16+ is the input shaft for the secondary ? Got a chance to pickup a couple of transmissions and I know one is a 14. If I replace the input shaft and do the chain upgrade it should fit into my 16 ??

The trans are essentially all the same, yes it will fit. With out diggig through my spread sheet thats at work and comparing numbers I cant tell you exactly what the diff in gearing is, if any. As far as the input shaft, that is usually the biggest difference between the years. 14/15 take different secondary, 16/17 are still one piece, 18 & up have two piece input shaft that allows swapping of low gear set by itself. If they are cheap I guess it really wouldnt matter to me if Im going in it anyway. They are really simple and easy to work on.

Ok so I'm a bit confused here, I'm thinking #4 is looking like a great option for my '17 XP41k but I'm not sure I get how it differs from #3?
++ Add the 570 set in lue of something or along with the items listed in #3?
So all this xpt2 2 piece shaft 3235987 and install ranger low gear set 3235232 67T and the 3236132 25T and the 570 gear set?

Lets see if i can get this worded correct from memory.
Xpt2 has a two piece input shaft which allows changing the low gear only. So you can swap to the ranger gear set to lower LOW only.
The ace 570 and 325 sets are separate swaps that can be combined with the input shaft swap or by themselves. So #3 is just the shaft with ranger gears swapped in. One on input shaft and another gear.
The 570/325 sets go in place in the gear cluster that has the reverse chain.

(Side note Im gonna have to go back and research a little more to clear of of these up and amend my posts)

So for option #4 on my 2017 XP41000 I'd need;
570 gear set PN’s 3235380 27T and 3235381 46T and the xpt2 2 piece shaft 3235987 and install ranger low gear set 3235232 67T and the 3236132 25T ???

The 2017 XP4 1000 has the Ace 570 reverse shaft and 46 tooth stage 2 gear from the factory. You can do the Ace 325 reverse shaft, 48 tooth stage 2 gear and Ranger low gear set.
