XP1000 Clutch Spacing Tolerancing

I recently installed a new Sparks Racing Clutch kit on my XP1000.

Everything went together great.

When I removed the secondary and primary I made myself a spacing tool at 10.5" on my mill. I measured it after I was done and it came out to 10.501 so close enough for government work.

When I put it on to check dimensions the tool would not fit over the shafts and after measuring the output shaft to input shaft measured about 10.450" ish.

What is the tolerancing spec for this?

I have never broke a belt and the new kit seems to be a big improvement over my 2014 stock clutch.

I would say I have 15% more power during acceleration.

I max out at 8050rpm so there is probably a little room for improvement but overall I am happy.

What do you guys think about the spacing tolerance?

Guys obviously IDEAL > LESS IDEAL.

I am specifically asking if anyone has experience with less than ideal spacing and what is the Polaris recommended tolerance spec for for this. Obviously you will never be able to hit it perfect.

Is it +/- .075?

Is it +/- .010?

I am trying to add some actual technical information to a topic and a forum that relies mostly on speculation.

I will run my setup this way for a ride and then move it back to as close to 10.500" as possible and record the results.

Is it the same 10.5" from shaft to shaft on the 4 seater?

Thanks Todd. Taking my primary and secondary off anyway this weekend to change weights and wait for your rollers to ship for my secondary. Might as well measure it.

I am waiting for a tool from Utv to correct this on mine. My shafts are actually too far apart. I measured roughly 10 5/8. I am having some weird belt wear after installing new primary, dalton clutch kit, and new gates belt. So I am going to try and set this spacing to 10.5 as a last resort.

This forum is so helpful.

So many expert vendors here providing insight on how to make our rzr's better.

Todd wish you actually knew what you were talking about other than just trying to push your product with no real knowledge on how it works.

OUCH! Did I miss something?

OSP sells one to check the spacing. They recommend, from what I understand, that if you are running a high hp machine the motor be "slightly twisted" so when under pressure the motor an tranny will be lined up. The piece that touches the primary has washers at the top, middle and lower points. The upper and middle will be the same. The bottom washers are different to allow for the flexing of high hp motors. I am sure OSP can do a better job of explaining it than I have.

Not to troll this thread but I just wanted to weigh in on the whole "Todd is trying to push product" thing. I just got off the phone with Todd and I can tell you that nothing could be farther from the truth. I told him that I knew nothing about clutches but thought I was having problems. Now, he could have told me I needed a new clutch and tried to sell me on something and honestly, I would have believed him and bought it. He didn't do that. He told me that he didn't want to sell me something that wasn't going to fix my issue. He wanted to find out certain symptoms and that possibly I didn't need anything. So, as you can see, he is about helping us and not "selling" us. Great customer service and you can bet that I will get whatever I need from Hunterworks. Thanks Todd!
