Is this a normal sound from the clutch? I just purchased this and noticed the noise from the belt vent

Just purchased a 17 xp1000 and when the rzr is idling I can hear kind of a knock or chatter from the belt vent, I removed the belt cover and see the primary is spinning at idle and that is where the noise is coming from. Is this or any type of noise normal for these.

Yes this is normal. First question I asked when I noticed this on my new toy too. I believe you can buy the STM primary spider stabilizer (or something like that) to prolong its life and quiet the noise, although there’s nothing wrong with it and you’ll never hear it again once you look past it!

I also have a new 2017 RZR XP 1K and when I'm slowing down to about 10mph or so I get this kind of scraping noise from what sounds like from the clutch. It's not a squeal but more like a rubbing sound for a few seconds.

Yes it is normal. Just drive it :) You will drive yourself crazy trying to chase down every squeak, rattle and clunk the machine will form. Pull the cover off the clutch every few hundred miles and blast it really good with and air compressor. The belt grit and dust is what kills the clutches....

When the machine suspension starts squeaking, and it will. Pull each shock off the machine. There are eyelets (uniballs) at the top and bottom of each shock. Take the spacers off and the O rings. Ram grease down into the ball as best you can, and put it back together leaving all the grease in there. When you wash the machine stay away from the shock pivot points so you don't wash the grease out of them.

Other than that change the air filter and oil per the owners manual and you're good to go! Drive it and have fun.

My wife and I wear full face helmets that are piped with music and air that eliminates the exterior noises.

Does it sound like this around the :30 second mark ?

Yeah normal , then when it gets a little louder the dealer will tell you its the belt, YOU burnt it . The noise will go away if you put a new belt on.

As for blasting the clutch out with compressed air , do it after every ride !
