Ok,few weeks ago the bolts on my flywheel came apart (luckily as I was cranking not while running) and screwed up the one way starter clutch. Replaced and loctite the flywheel bolts and intermediate gear. Put on a new one way clutch and put it all together. Nothing but a click when I tried to start it. Replaced the battery, solenoid and rebuilt the starter, still nothing but the click. Took the crankcase cover back off and starter engaged like it was supposed to and turned over fine. Put it back together and click. Loosened the bolts on the crankcase cover, spins free like it should, tighten and nothing....any suggestions?

Use an OEM gasket and no silicone on the stator cover and torque to spec, it is critical on those, there’s a couple threads I’ve helped others on with it too. It really is that close of a tolerance

WOW!! Thank you so much, that just blows me away!! 3 weeks of scratching my head and throwing money at it for a $20 gasket, LOL. Just so everyone out there knows, that was a brand new Caltric gasket that I had put on there and you see how well that worked! I just ordered 2 new OEM gaskets from Partzilla, but it doesn't look like they are going to get here before the ride I am supposed to go on Tuesday. Unless you tell me its a really bad idea, I am going to make a gasket out of a thicker gasket material and put it back together today, so I can go on my group ride, then put the OEM gasket on soon as it comes in. I am guessing my only danger would be a mild oil leak. Are there any other risks involved in that temporary fix to get me through this ride? Once again, thank you very much for your knowledge.

We had the same problem on a buddies, ordered a new gasket from a place that we now know by Chapperhell, called they "had it there" paid $43 shipping for next day and it didn't show up. Called and found out it was not there and was not going to make it and no one called to tell us different. O'riely gasket sheets and a exact o knife, hundreds of miles on it now, its permanent! Amazed that the tolerance was that close.
