Purchased a 2020 RZR Pro for 25k from Neilsen Enterprises in Lake Villa on May 5, 2020. Almost right out of the gate I started receiving DO NOT DRIVE notices for recalls on dangerous items like no x stitching in the 6 point harness and exploding primary clutches. The dealer had my machine for nearly 6 weeks while fixing these items and so Polaris did extend everyones warranties for 6 months due to these issues. We then went through winter here in the upper MW and began planning a trip down to Brimstone, TN. Last week we went there and rented a VRBO then had an awesome day of riding. The second day my check engine light came on with only 485 miles on the machine. Read the diagnostic code and it indicated a failed wideband O2 Sensor destroying our trip as I could no longer drive my 25K vehicle for fear of going into limp mode at the bottom of a canyon etc. This is not only dangerous could could potentially be life threatening. When I got back from our destroyed vacation as no one had the part we needed I inspected the O2 sensor and it was basically finger tightened the crush washer on it is not even crushed you can see the middle of the ring. I called to dealers and both had the same reply that I would need to take it up with Polaris myself as a customer issue as their experience with Polaris 100% denial of every non-warranty claim every time even in a case like this where I was only 5 days out of warranty. Polaris when called responded of course with you have to take this to the dealer and they then have to submit a claim creating a circular nightmare and additional charges for me due to their absolute negligence. Steer clear of this company if that is the best they can do to resolve such a dangerous and irresponsible attitude towards their customers who pay out large sums of money for their product.

Actually contacted 3 dealers down there in 50 mile range and none had that part could get it in a week so how would you know who has what? Try Tommy's motorsports they actually let me talk to a service tech who warned don't even try it if it goes into limp mode while out there your in trouble so guess they don't know what they are talking about either. Limp mode is the problem the sensor would be the part responsible for it.

Must be life threatening to the ego to have your buddy or some other fellow rider tow you to the trailer. You might even be able to find a CanAm that could tow you. You sound like the type that may like them better than Polaris any how LOL.
Low gear and limp mode may surprise you with what you can climb. My advice is stop letting problems wreck your day. Life is too short to let something stupid dominate you!

Everybody gets to blow off steam and be frustrated sometimes, new guys too. Not a great first post, but we can be more welcoming than this.

OP:
it suxs, but work through it dude. Poo warranty is really short, but it is what it is. You did get 6 extrra months, right? And had the option to buy extended warranty but elected not too. I get it you gambled a bit. I did too, and I get to use mine pretty rarely too. Some guys loose those bets. At least it's cheap.

Fix it, forget it, and you'll quickly find you love it. And if you forgive the bad attitude, most of the guys here can be pretty helpful.

Ok Boys been piling on pretty hard for the new guy - Here is my story - Bought mine last August (2020 XP 4) - first 175 miles in hard pack in desert - no accessories and no issues except a small amount of coolant on trailer floor after each ride - topped off tank each time - figured it got hot in enclosed trailer after riding in hot weather and going right into trailer to leave and driving home in heat. Took to dealer to install some accessories - went on first dune trip with car - main coolant hose popped off - dumped all coolant 1/2 mile from trailer - had just arrived - towed back to trailer - first by a sand rail that got stuck and then showered me and the car with about 200 lbs. of sand (not kidding I had like 6" of sand in my lap and in all the seats etc.). Sand is still coming out of the car every ride! Back to dealer to bleed system get motor checked out (it got hot) - all good - Polaris covered all the costs for check out, as it turned out they forgot to put a hose clamp on that hose, so it was working its way off from day 1. Got stop ride notice for clutch - mine was a fail - ordered STM clutch next day - riding again in 2 weeks. 3 trips to dunes - and at 500 miles - springs shot - ordered Shock Therapy springs - put in - back out - Went riding by myself - got high sided deep in dunes on a Friday - no help coming, no shovel (dumb @$$) so started digging with my hands - 2.5 hours later drove car off the high side. Car now has 850 miles and its seems to be all sorted out - working great and looking forward to a great summer - oh forgot to mention had dead battery 4 times - dead when delivered - replaced under warranty - then dead after car sat for 3 weeks - a few times - now new battery again - no warranty this time, mine is over - so installing a 2nd battery and marine style on/off switch to kill the batteries for sure - what will be next - who knows - but something and it will get fixed and the smile that has been plastered on my face since the first ride - remains firmly planted from the time the trailer is hooked up, until it is put away clean again. You pound the $#!t out of stuff in this sport and it has to be fixed, adjusted, gone over and you have to have a "lets figure it out attitude" and keep moving forward. If you do you will love the sport!

Keep coming back Chockada - this is a great site with a lot of good information - I keep learning and am trying to do it the easy way - but sometimes I just can't help myself and have to do it the hard way!

Where are these life threatening canyons at brimstone??? 🤷

If your dealer is saying it’s 100% denial of warranty, you sir have a piss poor dealer. I’m sure they were more than happy to have you pay to tighten up the sensor for you. Polaris has pretty decent coverage if your dealer wants to get it covered for you.

Yes it sucks to spemd big money and have issues to deal with but it happens sometimes.

I’m sure your approach to get the matter resolved at your dealer was as smooth as it was here...

What kind of gas did you use?
Any additives?
Are turbos different? I thought it was a narrow band O2

Nielsons has been around longer than i can remember
Bought a motorcycle from them
The Pro XP units all have wideband O2 sensors. Evap units from the XP Turbo line also have them, and I think the 21 and up XP Turbo line have them as well.

Wow thanks for the replies like a few of you should check yourselves yeah its frustrating when you finally get out somewhere good for the first time and this happens. Nice that you pile on thanks to the few that actually respond like human beings not with tales of what you can do. Actually replaced the sensor and still getting the light so if anyone has some idea of what might cause that outside of the actual sensor please comment, Thank you

You will find you'll get much better responses if you drop the attitude. If you have replaced the O2 sensor and the problem still persist you probably have a wiring issue. Check the connector to make sure the contacts are clean and making a good connection. Check the wiring harness to make sure there are no broken or frayed wires.

FWIW my buddy and I were out in the desert a month ago breaking in his new machine. It tripped an O2 sensor code as well that would not reset. After riding for the rest of the day (limp mode but still had some fun in the sand) he set an appointment w/ his dealer. They replaced the O2 right off the bat and when that didn't fix it they actually began to check things out (classic shotgun method, I've worked in automotive repair for 20 years and I've been guilty just like the rest) and what they found w/ a smoke test of the intake tract was a loose intake hose. That's where I'd start, find a way or someone to smoke test the intake system for a boost/vacuum leak and also check the blow off valve (bov) and see if it is prematurely letting off pressure. These can all lead to skewed a/f ratios and set an O2 sensor fault. Good luck, once you get it sorted out I'm pretty sure you'll be back in happy camper land and enjoying your new machine like you hoped to

Thanks for the good info I am going to have to head down that road as replacement and inspection of the wiring harness front to back I can find nothing. Something has to be causing it started looking for a wet plug somewhere to as we hit some puddles hard too out in TN you know the ones that don't look very deep by the power lines and such. Thanks I will post if I get it resolved

I am having the same code, I have ~2100 miles on my machine. At first when the light came on, it would come on while accelerating and then turn off when letting off the gas. But then it came on and stayed on for a while, so I check my voltage while riding (in limp mode) and I noticed my voltage was down at 11.2 volts. I was running all my accessories (2 air compressors, stereo, light bar, whips, etc) and riding pretty hard. When I turn everything off the voltage works its way back up to 13.5 volts and the code will clear itself while riding a bit. The last time the light came on it wouldn't turn off until I stopped the rig and let it idle for 60 seconds or so with all accessories off, then rode back to camp pretty hard without it coming on again. I am thinking the low voltage is affecting the reading of my O2 sensor and causing the code, thoughts?

It sounds like you answered your own question.

The feedback provided to the ecm is voltage. There is a range of expected voltage. If you are only feeding the circuit with 11 volts, that would definitely skew the voltage sent to the ecm.

Sounds like you are due for a second battery and an isolator.

Yeah I also got a weak battery with mine when purchased even though I use a battery minder it would drain like there was vampire voltage draw. Ended up buying 2 and replacing the new one and added second battery kit. Bought a wideband sensor from aftermarket assasins and also replaced the crap intake tube that tends to suck shut when you get on the turbo. Like was mentioned above a couple times after doing these installs took it out for a 30 minute ride and light disappeared and (fingers crossed) has not returned. RPM makes a silicone big fatty tube and if you have the cash get a silicone J tube and charge tube while you are at it. :D

Finally got around to installing it yesterday. I had to make a bracket to keep a hose out of the pulley, but all in all, I like it. It didn't come with any instructions at all but was easy to install. So far, I have only had it idling and it keeps the voltage up at 14.2 with nothing on. When I turn on both compressors, light bar, whips, rock lights, and chase bar, it drops to 13.8. The only concern I have is the durability as it is held on with 4 bolts.

man... even 1300 bucks is insane for what it is. Now i'll say it looks like a really nice kit, but dang. that alternator cant be more than a couple hundred bucks.

I hope it works out for you. How much of a pita was it to get the new crank case cover on? What kind of terrain do you ride in? I'd be curious how well it holds up in water/mud.
