Why did my crank bearing fail?

Bought a 2012 rzr 800s needing a rebuild less than a year ago. Tore it down and the crank bearings were gone. Bought a full hotrods crank kit, gaskets, water/oil pump rebuild, cylinder etc. Also bought new new lifters but had the original cam in it (I know you are suppose to replace both. ) Followed the manual and cleaned everything up then torqued everything to spec. 45 miles later it started knocking. Was halfway hopeful that I had some collapsed lifters as there was a gap between two of the rockers and rods when I opened it hack up. But the new lifters and cam were both extremely worn and the crank bearing at the rod is gone again. What could cause this? I know that's an open ended question but hesitant to do it again until I can figure out what happened. Tha

What did you do for the break in procedure? I did the same on mine new crank,new cam, lifters top end …etc and I broke mine in at 2,000 rpm for the fist 20min like the instructions asked on the performance cam
My guess is lack of oil pressure.

Doesn't the 800 have a spring and dowel pin for the oil pump and it can limit the amount of oil flow?

I did 4 heat cycles, varying rpms under 3k for about 10-15 mins until the fan came on then let it cool down until the next day.

Found that the dowel pin is stuck mostly closed. Slight gap but just about all the way down. Frustrating as for some reason I decided to replace the last one but it slid fine. This one did too when I first installed it. I guess this would cause low oil pressure if it couldn't open? How do I keep it from happening again just sand it down?

Not sure what the fix is. I've heard guys cutting the spring so there is less tension.
Maybe someone else will help you out with that so I don't give the wrong info
Lots of people use two 5/16 bearings instead of the dowel as seen in the video below. Alternatively get one of these from ebay

For piece of mind maybe install an oil pressure gauge while you are rebuilding. There are a few good threads out there how to do this.

Edit to add: I've used a 7mm gun cleaning brush on a drill to clean/polish that port. Can't say for sure if it helped but so far so good.

Thanks guys. May look into the ball bearings and oil pressure guage when I get this pin out, can't reach it with the alen wrenches like most people suggest. If I reamed that hole out and accidentally make it a hair too big, can I hurt anything within reason? Would just take a bit longer to build up pressure I assume but should be fine
I struggled getting that pin out also, keep soaking it with Kroil or wd40 to help loosen it

If it was just rebuilt, what's in there to keep the pin from coming out?
