I just bought my first 2011 RZR S, I Live in CA and know that the CA models are choked up. There are things that need to be removed in order for the engine to breathe and the stock performance to come alive.

I’m not putting any accessories on it yet. I’m a true believer in performance and letting the engine breathe. So what do I need to do to unleash the beast??

The CA models are no different than any of the others sold in the U.S. Just check your fluids, check your air box for a good seal and the hose going to the throttle body, then drive it like you stole it.

So are there and baffles or plugs that can be removed? Either in the exhaust or intake?

What about the smog crap is there anything that can be removed to help the machine run better?

Nope .... no magic button ... you cant even add some of the after market items on a 011. You have to sit tight till all the after market performances manufactures figure out all the new head...injectors ... ECU. I think the exhaust and air cleaner is the same though!

on 09s the spark arrester is removable with one bolt if the areas u ride dont need it, and dont know if they fixed 11's but every other one needs aftermarket airbox/filter as the stock ones leak and are very restrictive that and you might need clutch kit ,follow threads to see and your machine will really wake up(fuel programmer?might be needed with new bosch or not, to new to know unless you install air fuel ratio gauge or wait for others to dyno, There are no "cali emmisions" on rzrs

Ok ive been on the forum long enough, i got this one guys. Your gonna need a turbo, a really expensive clutch, all new suspension, a really expensive ecu tuning device, a really expensive air box, and probley a second job to support the addiction. Haha! Jk! Really tho the rzr is great from polaris and there are endless mods you can do to make it your own. Enjoy and welcome to the forum!

Well said:) Just remember to do the mods that apply to your type of riding. If you are looking for alot more get up and go....A turbo or Big bore kit would work. If you only see yourself running rocky or tight trails maybe you wont ever use that extra power and stock is fine. There are so many ways to go with the rzr...Make it yours is the best advice.

Seriously KTM, the very first thing I would do, assuming that Polaris hasn't done anything about it, is trash your stock seatbelts, and go buy a good set of 4 or 5 point safety harnesses. Then drive it like you stole it!

OK thanks guys. Ive been a long dirt bike rider and now I want a play toy. My passion still lies in bikes, but I just want a good running machine that will haul ass and keep me in the cab unlike tose pice of crap Rhinos.

So what kinds of harnes should I get 4 or 5 and what ones will bold in with no modifications im not about butching up the new machine.

That's what I've found. Same with the chassis. Not a lot of input yet on the '11s. Things have changed and Polaris does not provide a list of exactly what they changed. Things appear to have changed on the frame and the cage. Not sure exactly what they changed though.....along with the heads and Bosch ECU. Just going to have to wait and see what pans out.

KTM, just make sure you get the "H" pattern belts, not the "Y" pattern. And for the crotch belt they make a bracket to bolt it to that bolts to the front seat rail. I Know Side By Side Motorsports sells them, and I theink Dragonfire does too.

Look at Crow's and Dragonfire Racing, both are site vendors here. Thunderhawk makes the crotch belt bracket. NOTE: Do yourself a favor and get the padded belts or you will end up with a rubbed raw neck. Also, with stock seats, get belts with a sternum strap to keep the shoulder belts from falling off your shoulders.

welcome to the club! Dont be cheap! if so then you choose the wrong hobby. harness's are real nice, 5 pts for sure. seats are nice, and springs are nicer too. UHMW skid plates (factory UTV). Where abouts you planning on riding? I lived in sonora for a lil while now Oakdale. I was able to take my rzr to La Grange and drove it on the MX track, shoot me email if you wanna go drive. I know a couple more guys with RZR's to go play with. Good luck man!

We are waiting on stats for the '11 models. Earlier models were programmed rich. Gotta see how the new ones are doing. Then to decide to get a programmer, new airbox and exhaust. Not much of a power gain, but without spending $5K on a turbo, this will help.
