What oil are you going to run?

I know there are numerous threads on this topic on here. But my question is for us turbo owners. What oil are you planning on running in your turbo machine? I was leaning towards Amsoil 5w-50 full syn UTV oil. Also, any specific filter brand? I would love to hear some feedback.

Amsoil UTV 5-50 for me!

I'd have to agree. Why not run the oil that this new powertrain was developed and tested using? Polaris knows what this engine requires best, and if I spent $25K on it, a few extra dollars for Polaris oil seems like cheap insurance.

I know this is a touchy subject on peoples opinions. But just was curious if there was a advantage of a branded oil( Amsoil,Mobil1,Royal Purple). Polaris oil is nothing special, Just a rebrand of another oil most likely.

There was a thread on one of the forums about oil brands. Someone brought up an interesting point about some of the race specific oils in that they are not necessarily designed for longevity. Meaning they are designed for an engine that is going to get the oil changed almost every race or a lot more than what the Polaris manual calls for.

It was an interesting point and something to think about. He was not saying any oil brand was bad, just to be aware of the oils intended use.

I like the Polaris oil, just for the fact you can buy the oil change kit with everything you need.

Id like to hear more about the Maxima Oil. Ive never heard or seen any reviews on that oil. What Weight are you running?

I'm putting in the 10-40 Semi Synthetic (Just put it in after my first oil change). They also make a UTV specific full Synthetic, but I plan to change it so often I doubt it will matter. I have always had good luck with amsoil products in the past, but I get Maxima allot cheaper.

I remember reading a study that the polaris oil thinned out more than a good 0-40 when running hot.

Not surprising! I'm bet any quality synthetic would be better than stock. I do wonder if 40 or 50 weight is closer to stock and which works better. and would like to see some independent reviews of the stock oil in comparison. Stock is 2-50, but after reading that it breaks down to less than a 40 weight with heat somewhere in not sure which is the proper choice.

Probably just going to stick with the 10-40 since that's been tested by people running in Baja 500.

Well, I decided to go with Amsoil UTV 5w50 and a Wix XP oil filter. We shall see the differences on my oil Scan.
