Hey guys,
I have not posted on this forum very much due to me making a decision and buying a 08 Rhino 700.
Well, I am back. I am currently selling my Rhino because it is too big for the trails I ride and my son hates riding in it, but loves riding in my friend rzr.
After reading about the issues Polaris is having with the rzr, is it best to see what comes out for 09? I ride in the mountains here in Arkansas and the trails can be quite dusty if no rain has fell in a few days, so I am worries about the intake especially.
I also read that there are problems with the AWD, maybe the axles, front diff, and belt.
I dont want to get hung in a situation that I cannot get out of.
I went today and drove a rzr at my local dealership. I loved the power over my Rhino, but the rzr definately needs more ground clearance.
I talked to the senior salesman and he told me that he dont expect a change in the 09 because sales are so good now. He also told me that the only problems he has ever seen is due to people turning them over and then not checking the oil afterwards, and also collision damages. He told me that he never heard of any intake problems or any problems with the rzr.
Does anyone know any scoops on the 09 and if any changes will come with them? Thanks so much! - Jon

The airbox issue is real enough....not happening to everyone, and kinda sorta fixed on the Gen 2 or 3's. (not enough to not check inside it, tho). Mine's Gen 2 and I've never had any problem with dust past the filter. Just make sure that the clips on the air cover are tight, or go with one of the aftermarket fixes for it; they're fairly simple to do at home.

I did blow a belt, which is kind've common. I'd just go ahead and order a Goodyear Gatorback (got one for $64 online delivered) and have them put it on from the get-go and it'll probably never be a worry. The "Polaris" Heavy-Duty belt is about twice as much, btw.

Thanks TEXMudder. Can I have a link to your site?
I assume you are in Texas. Did you go to mudnationals there in April? This was my first year there and I will definately be going back next year!
How does your RZR hold up in the mud, water, and woods?
Anyways, Im looking foward to next Thursday!!!

TEXMudder's Site is my site.

I have been to Mud Nationals every year. The HL gang is my riding crew so I am usually with them. I also have been covering Mud Nationals every year for magazines. Definately a fun place.

The RZR has been very fun. Great with a set of Outlaws on it and a lift.
