Well, I installed 2 ump intake systems in 2 of our rzrs today. It went fairly well, and the fitment is good. The modification to the airbox takes a little time if you want to get a good fit. And those 2 dam tiny bolts that go down by the shifter cable are a real bitch when you have monster hands lol I like the systems. They seem well built, and I hope they work as well as everyone claims they do. I have a few 4 day rentals scheduled for dumont, so I guess I will find out. Im just glad I can tell the renters to "leave the airbox alone" I will service it myself when it comes back. So is there anyone out there thats going to tell me they cant go 4 days in the sand without servicing? Speak up !! lol I need to know. All I know is those dam stock airboxes are incredible filthy even after a day!! So these have to be better.

Its not so much of an issue with dirt in the airbox itself, but the filters were sooooo dirty after every day of riding. I would blow them off with light air pressure, but I wanted to just put a new one on. They dont come clean hardly at all. From what ive been hearing, the filters in the UMP system stay clean for so long, I can stand to not have to service them for a full rental period of 4 to 5 days.

I never felt any loss of performance at all, you may have something else going on.

same here...feels like after i installed the ump system my performnace has suffered a bit..doesnt seem to have as much seat of the pants feel on take off..is a programmer required with just the ump system with no other performance mods??
No programmer required.

Mine is an 09 S and his is a 2010 S. I thought ahead on that one and jumped in my sister's 2010 razor S. air pressure, passenger weight both in 2 wheel drive on the straight and 4 wheel drive on the hill climb everything was the same with the exception of the UMP. Both bone stock machines. Idk if maybe my dad mest up the install or what but there was a noticable difference. There was one hill that my dads didnt even make it up and my sisters did no problem.

I have an 08 standard rzr with extra weight and am just as fast up the hills as a friends 10 rzr s with a slip on pipe and k&n. The UMP is the only "performance" mod on my rzr.

well I really dont think the ump hurts the performance. I just had a renter tell me our rzr4 was beating rzrs's and rzr4's out at dumont over the weekend. Ours is the 2011 with an UMP.. I really think performance is different for every machine. I personally thought our 2010 rzr4 felt quicker than our 2011 rzr4, but the guy who rented asked me what I did to it to make is so fast... and yes, the UMP will fit the 2011.. you just need the plug the hole the sending unit used to go in, as they moved in in the 2011's. I just used a bolt with washers on each side.. seems to work just fine

Vegastoys, you may have gotten one of the last kits w/out the plug...I just got more kits in and haven't opened the boxes up yet, but was told by UMP that they're all coming with a new plug for anyone with a 2011 model. If you need a plug let me know and I'll send one your way.

I've installed several of these kits and have one on my 2009 RZR S (otherwise bone stock minus removing the exhaust ring) and we've seen no performance decrease. I wonder if your dad's RZR isn't getting full throttle opening? There was a post about this somewhere......

Also, the ejector valve on the UMP system will evacuate a LOT of dust and dirt out of the canister. It's all about the fin system on the Donaldson swirling the particles in there (I would be careful of using any other paper filter in the UMP setup). Without that ejector valve, you will end up with a dirty filter as quickly as the stock filter system gets. If you put your finger over that valve and give it some throttle, you'll feel it pushing air out.

I have replacement Donaldson filter's and the UMP system at the bottom of THIS PAGE
