Well, I installed 2 ump intake systems in 2 of our rzrs today. It went fairly well, and the fitment is good. The modification to the airbox takes a little time if you want to get a good fit. And those 2 dam tiny bolts that go down by the shifter cable are a real bitch when you have monster hands lol I like the systems. They seem well built, and I hope they work as well as everyone claims they do. I have a few 4 day rentals scheduled for dumont, so I guess I will find out. Im just glad I can tell the renters to "leave the airbox alone" I will service it myself when it comes back. So is there anyone out there thats going to tell me they cant go 4 days in the sand without servicing? Speak up !! lol I need to know. All I know is those dam stock airboxes are incredible filthy even after a day!! So these have to be better.

Sorry to say I clean mine after every ride the rides range from 40 to 50 miles and I get a about a half shot glass of dirt or dust .But Im riding in the dezert not the sand of dumont. I have had no problems with dirt getting past the ump. I hope this info helps.

So what is the issue with dirt being inside the airbox? If you don't have a pre-filter installed, your probably going to have the same amount of dirt inside the box if the intake is pulling air from the same location?

Its not so much of an issue with dirt in the airbox itself, but the filters were sooooo dirty after every day of riding. I would blow them off with light air pressure, but I wanted to just put a new one on. They dont come clean hardly at all. From what ive been hearing, the filters in the UMP system stay clean for so long, I can stand to not have to service them for a full rental period of 4 to 5 days.

Exactly. What makes the ump so much better is actually the Donaldson air filter and the swirl effect and ejection of dirt out the blow port. Once I snorkeled my intake to the top of the cage, I get zero dust in the box. I always get a lap full of fine dust/dirt in my lap when I run, so I know the stock intake location was pulling in dirt like mad. Im running the UMP, with the tall snorkel, combined with an outerwares over the intake for maximum protection.

Do these UMP systems help or hurt performance? My dad just installed his and it feels like there is a lag time between the time you floor it to the time the rzr takes off or accelerates. WTF!
I never felt any loss of performance at all, you may have something else going on.

What do you mean by that? Lol! You spent more money on it then the cost of the purchase?
