Finally finished the project and extremely happy with the results.

Nicely done, one of the better installs of an overhead fan that I've seen. Simple, cost effective, and will work well. (y)

I contemplated a similar idea but building a housing to hide the fan so it doesn't look like an after thought. I wanted it to look like it was meant to be there. While searching for low amp draw fans to use for the build I ran across a neat packaged fan setup used for golf carts. It's marketed under the name Breezeasy. The 12v version has dual squirrel cage fans, directional vents, moves 310cfm, with a max draw of 7.9A. Fan speed is adjustable with the built-in PWM controller. It's relatively quiet and has worked out well. I think I paid around $150 or so.

I guess I forgot to list the total cost for my design.
$60 fan
$10 switch
$15 speed controller
$20 wire/fuse
$5 paint
free scrap metal
$110 total.

Fan says max 11 amps, but measures around 8 amps running At full speed.
CFM is 1280 at full speed.

The roof of my RZR is also slightly bowed up at the front edge so it pulls air in which increases flow.

The noise level is unnoticeable as the engine is louder.
